How many accounts should you have?

That is IF you get placed in silver. So long as you’re not throwing to get there during placements I’m not sure you’d go there first.

Having a second account is fine. Using it to throw and smurf is not.

The only game I’ve ever come across that restricts you to one account ONLY (and gives bans for multiple) is OSU

I used to have that many, I have not really touched them in awhile. I just enjoy one tricking and was afraid of false reports. But with how the game has been declining, I wouldn’t be afraid of genuine reports.

Well, they used to require a phone number for all accounts. But people cried, so they changed it so you could use all your old OW1 accounts even without a phone number.

Now, I don’t know if new accounts still require a phone number, or if it’s easy to get around that, but for someone in top 500, yeah, multiple accounts is probably the norm, because they probably had a lot of OW1 accounts.

Well, why would you ever WANT multiple accounts? lol. What purpose would that serve?

I guess for top 500 players it makes them feel good about themselves or something? I don’t know. Those people don’t exactly have a lot of things going on in their lives.

As dumb as it is (in my opinion) to have several accounts, as long as you can only be on one at a time, it’s acceptable.
From a casual stand point, I don’t want to juggle more. “Can’t touch support (or whatever role) on that account” sounds annoying. But if you’re in top 500, you probably have more reason to practice only whatever on this or that account.
Not me, I’m not bulding a brick wall. I’m singular brick. I’ll be the sharpest brick, no one expects that.

One. Seriously, no reason to use more unless you want to smurf. And if you do that, I don’t want anything to do with you.

If you have a shred of human decency, one.

You should only be allowed to have one account in top 500, there’s way too much gatekeeping.

Less than OW1 with phone verifications and battlepass but still.

As many as you like, so long as you’re not throwing games and breaking TOS.

I think it’s fine if people have more than one account.

Maybe they want to practice things without ruining their stats or want to play with a friend who has a lower mmr. OR if they just want the challenge of starting over!

I actually had two accounts myself. This, my main one and an extra for playing with my partner who had a lower mmr and was learning. (This was in OW1 tho so I paid for both) I actually don’t use my second one anymore lol I forgot the email and password.

i only have my one account…

JUST ONE

never ever had another account for any reason BUT more power to the people. i dont mind if people have different accounts. more power to them, its you’re fun i guess

at the end of the day, its only a video game

One.

Just one, you dont need more. Not even to “test” things. If you are so bad you drop rank playing other heroes, you dont deserve your rank to begin with.

I disagree. There is no such thing as an ethical answer as it varies person to person.

Let’s say you’re a GM Rein main that wants to practice doomfist in QP but your QP tank MMR is GM, you’ll get flamed all game by people crying about wanting to finish their challenges. Your team won’t dedicate resources (healing) to you and probably will leave the game leaving you in a 4 v 5 game or an environment where you can’t practice a new hero.

The only solution is to make an alt account to practice. There are many heroes where skills in your hero pool don’t transfer well across the entire role roster.

Now let’s say your tank MMR goes back to GM and you wanted to practice ball. What do you do now?

this is a tough one tbh because they originally intended for all accounts to require sms protection (thus requiring a phone number) but they backtracked on that for all legacy accounts. (keep in mind that some people just have a bunch of ow1 accounts though)

it seems to be fine, no one has said to not make alts (though they arnt so fond of unranked to gm streams) but weather or not you should make one is up to you.

typically you’d make em to practice new heroes not to avoid playing on your main
