How long does it take immortality field to be activated (and destroyable) from when it’s thrown?

Simple question, has anyone timed this out? From when the throw animation starts, or how long it’s deployed? It feels like a second and a half maybe?

0.8sec

Thank you! Does that include travel time and the throw or just when it arrives in the spot?

There’s no 0.8-second delay… the drone leaves Baptiste’s hand instantly upon button press and activates instantly upon touching the ground. The only delay is air time. Baptiste has a 0.8-second animation for the throw (AFTER it leaves his hand) during which he can’t shoot.

Actually, now I’m less certain, because there’s 2 parts of he throws it straight down.

  1. Throw animation
  2. Deploy animation

Dunno if the Casting Time includes just the first one, or both.

It lasts for 5 seconds if that helps, will take 150 damage to destroy once experimental comes through

The casting time is neither, as explained on the same page.

Although the ability has a casting animation, the generator is spawned the instant the button is pressed

Hmmm so if you look straight down is it effectively 0 cast time?

Like the person above said, the casting time is just Baptiste’s animation, or rather the time Baptiste can’t act

I don’t know if there is a delay activation, but for the most part the delay is just gonna be the projectile’s travel time

Also I was a little late

Yes.

Weird, would have thought it would act like Snowball from Mei’s Ult, that has a 0.5sec throw animation and a 0.8sec deploy animation

If I recall, the deployment animation is 0.5 seconds once the drone lands, assuming it doesn’t get caught or bounce awkwardly. It will occasionally get hung up for a fraction of a second if deployed close to a wall or large object (like the cart).

Travel time will vary depending on the distance thrown.

Eh, they’re kind of similar animations but very different use cases. The exact moment that Blizzard starts isn’t all that critical, since it’s an over-time effect that opponents need a warning to prepare for so they can try to avoid it. Immortality Field is all about that first moment, and his teammates don’t need a warning that it’s coming, they just want to live.

Yeah, but maybe it should be less capable of immediate peel.

Like, I’m legit surprised and already calculating how this needs to be nerfed, so that DoubleBarrier has a Dive weakness.

Do we have any idea what the travel speed is?

60 meters per second

I’m a dummy! My bad, remembered looking at the wiki and not seeing the answer for some reason

Well, I’m glad you made this thread since or didn’t occur to me that the deploy role when you look down would be anything different from 0.8sec

I’m not sure if you know this but the arc of immortality field is the exact same as his healing nades. That can be helpful sometimes for long range immortality throws.
