When it can’t even match properly. It’s always a hard win or a hard loss. The MM has no clue how to find proper teams.
You go support, you outperform opponents and your own second healer but your other team mates cant play properly. I lose MMR on support role for outperforming.
Make it make sense.
Marketing deemed it competitive.
I guarantee you that 90% of players think they’re the best on the team and would be winning if their team just did the right things. In reality, the matchmaker is very strong and matches people quantifiably across roles now. Little decisions lead to one-sided games, though. Matchmaking can’t change that.

When did I ever say that “I’m the best in the team”?
You can SEE the stats you know…
I didn’t say you did, but the people who think that also think they’re overperforming and still losing.
The stats mean almost nothing in this game. Sometimes one support has all the healing because they’re hard pocketing the tank instead of meaningfully contributing to the fight. Like, I got flamed by my tank for going 3-6 on a DPS round the other day, but that happened while he hid behind the rest of us. It’s hard for me to get kills without a tank. Stats showed the tank was doing the best on our team, but reality showed he was the problem. I’m the problem sonetimes, too, but stats aren’t going to indicate that.

You’re literally contradicting yourself…

Oh, I see. You aren’t here for discussion. Understood. Carry on blaming the game then.

how is something like poker played competitive?
all you need for something to be competitive is everybody playing on a level playing field…regardless of what the conditions are
everybody playing this game deals with the same stuff…the question you need to ask yourself is why everybody else can climb when you cant
its not just luck

Just don’t call it competitive I guess. Now it’s a casual game. Problem solved?

I just called you out on a contradiction…
You said “i didnt” then the next sentence you do it…
If i’m bad i’m bad. I wont pretend im the best in the world if I’m bad…
I have eyes and i can analyze…
Least deaths. most healing, most assists. I just stand there and do what a support does and observe as ppl just can’t do half the dmg opponensts can, or the Tank just dives deep in to die solo etc.
I just sit there letting out Sighs after sighs with a
face…
and yet its a team game and individual stats dont matter much if the team lost…
im sure Mbappe felt really good about that golden boot he won in the last world cup…i guarantee you hes not complaining that soccer isnt competitive though
I’d argue they climb with other supports because the balance between the supports is literally 0.
I’d also argue they climb with persistence. Playing over and over again, eventually landing on consecutive Matchmaking wins where they can just barely pass the check point into the next leage tier.
I know it’s a team game… that’s why the Matchmaker needs to be accurate.
Heroes of the Storm suffer from the literal same problem.
I lost a ranked tank game last night going 45-5 and one of my dps going similar, versus an enemy tank who went something like 26-10 and the rest of their team similar. Stinks. It’s a team game and they were apparently the better team when it counted.
that person will fall right back if they can only barely get there…
it cannot ever do that…and the match quality doesnt necessarily reflect how good a job it does either…match outcomes are only partially dependent on matchmaking
but again…there are thousands upon thousands of games being played all the time and over time the chips fall where they are…if youre playing hundreds of games and youre stuck in an ELO its because you belong there…no matter how good you think you are
the same system that everyone thinks screws them also benefits them half the time…so at the end of the day its on you

It is possible to do the right things at the wrong times. You have to see what your team is doing and do what is right in the moment along with them. If they’re doing something that…isn’t helping, you need to communicate with them an alternate plan.
Basically that.
It’s the same argument like HotS forums dudes have.
“The system is so accurate it places you where u belong”. Your team plays better or worse depending on what team the MM forms. Because the team formation is random your chance to get a better team is to a coin flip. Your individual skill can be so good u can ruin matches… problem is the MM.
Your individual skill hits a brick wall, meaning you cant do anything at all… Problem is the MM the same way.
It’s not that you landed on “your place” because that implies the system is flawlessly made, a perfect system. It’s a coinflip.
Anyway I uninstalled it, I’m better of playing other shooter games that rewards individual plays.
wouldn’t be such a massive issue if we wouldn’t have heroes for every skill level playing against each other on a different calculated skill level.
on top of everyone getting to a specific skill level differently. Some reach it by working together an other got there by their own gameplay alone.
others just counter swap and others played busted heroes that got nerfed, others climbed because they main a bad hero who got buffs.
its so many different things. which is why most top ranks tell the players they make Atleast one massive mistake, but there isn’t just one mistake theres countless different ones people do.
I would even say normal players play a harder game, as we have to adapt to different levels of teams regularly, while I would guess that playing in gm1 or even Champion tiers brings some levels of consistency.
flawless? hell no…over time it does what its supposed to though
how long is a bronze to GM stream nowadays in this totally random system that you have no say in?
If Smash Bros Melee can still be competitive after all these years, I don’t see why OW can’t lol… as for the ‘steam rolly’ nature of the matches, I think most agree that has more to do with the nature of the game that is OW and not so much due to a lack of balance.
After all, even if ‘perfect balance’ was achieved, it would only be until the next new hero is released. I think players are willing to deal with balance shake ups if it means they can keep getting new heroes.
