How is the Reworked Sombra less frustrating to play against?

To be short about this.

I don’t understand how the devs thought this was ok. Sombra is arguably one of the best flankers in the game while taking little to no skill to get value, while Genji is still terrible and takes infinitely more skill.

Stay in a group to counter one character that takes little skill and can burst you down in 2 seconds?

For real. I’ve been playing lots of Sombra since her rework with no real playtime on her prior. 25 hours in so far and the biggest counter to her is teamwork. She has a hard time winning 2v1s.

Sombra is only really a low elo problem:

  • Sombra is actually quite weak compared to other other characters

  • She mainly benefits when going against players with lower mechanical skill and reflexes (those with higher mechanical skills can easily dispose of her while hacked)

  • She also only really punishes lone wolf players (so, low elo players). If you stick as a team or peel, Sombras will leave ASAP.

  • Low elo players don’t pay attention or try to find an invisible Sombra, which is why they fail against her (in high elos, Sombras generally won’t last long because players will eventually unstealth her)

  • Her win-rate is pretty low in competitive and she’s actually really hard to get value out of

I play a lot of Sombra and she mostly feels unusable now. I can get far more value out of playing characters I’m worse at (Hanzo, Ashe) than I can get out of Sombra now. I was watching a Sombra one trick on Twitch (who has hit T500 before) and right now, he is struggling hard (and went from GM to low masters within a day). Sombra can no longer safely escape, so she’s genuinely useless to most people.

You can’t really nerf her just because QP and low elo players can’t handle her. In other elos, she’s a throw pick.

Her hack silence is the most annoying thing in the world, yet they let that slide. These devs are so incompetent, I get second hand embarrassment from just playing the game.

As a sombra player, I don’t really get their thought process behind it either. I’m definitely just as annoying now as before but I can also burst you down before you know what hit you if I feel like it.

She isn’t overpowered, I think she is mostly fine honestly. I am just really tired of constantly having to look behind me the entire game when Sombra is around. Its extremely tedious.

Permanent invisibility is just not fun to play against… they should have gotten rid of this aspect of her kit when they reworked her.
