How is the new ping system doing?

To the beta testers, how do you feel about the new ping system? Is it useful?
Didn’t see that much discussion about this topic here yet.

In my games I’ve basically never seen it used ever. so yeah.

Don’t know how to use it and don’t care. I have a mic.

My hot take is that it’s significantly stronger than people give it credit for. Talking on the mic doesn’t give your whole team the exact location of enemy heroes.

I’ve had teammates use it to point out snipers, help with target focus, and even coordinate rotations.

Most people are just too lazy to even give it a chance, and it shows.

It’s great. I use it all the time, especially as Support but even on other roles, and you should watch the effect it has on my games. If I ping the enemy Lucio or Brig in the middle of the teamfight, 80% of the time everyone on my team immediately looks at them and then we all focus fire them down before I ping the next target for us to kill.

It’s also SO good when you spot someone flanking, you ping them and suddenly everyone knows exactly where they are.

I think more people need to start using it, I’m usually the only person who does so in my matches.

It’s invaluable IMO.

I’ve found it to be really useful. Exposing flankers is now one of my favourite things to do :star_struck:

Its default bind is either G or Middle Mouse, so for me, those are a bit … off

But it is pretty useful whenever I use it.

A good support can make really good use of this system. It notifies the whole team the existence of a flanker, which usually means life and death of a support. For example, when I play Moira body guarding a Zen, ping a flanking Genji could bring a DPS to help quickly killing him, instead of losing our Zen.

I love these systems that reward players with good game sense. I just hope it’s not going to be abused by bad teammates causing calling wolf effect.
