Ana 100 hp every 10 seconds
Zen 150 hp every time disengage
Mercy passive self heals almost immediately after not taking dmg
Lucio constant self heals and increased self heals
Moira healing orb +300 and passive right click heals
Bottom line Ana’s self healing is trash compared to the rest of the supports…And with zero mobility

Because at the time she was the one who could output ult grade healing every 10 seconds thanks to biotic grenade which created a meta where the only counter to it was it itself.
She also had high enough damage that a good Ana player was nearly untouchable by flankers, especially with having the longest CC in the game at her fingertips.
More or less she paid the price in her design for insane utility and power… with poor self sustain and no mobility.

You’re forgetting the fact that %90 of the roster has been buffed since she was nerfed.
You are also implying that bc she once was good she does not deserve to even be viable now

It’s not Ana who lacks self-heal. It’s Moira who has too much of it. Neither Zen nor Mercy have any form of combat heal. Ana does.
Except she is viable now.
The problem she has now is meta. She does not function well in a meta designed to slaughter supports. So Ana has to greatly outplay the flankers in order to survive.
But in any comp featuring multiple tanks she performs relatively well even with Moira around because Ana still retains great utility and counter-healer potential.
Her pickrate at the upper levels of comp is also comparable to Mercy.
Pretty debatable actually bc the meta should have transitioned to Moira ana or Moira Lucio…
The reason being nade amplifies aoe heals.
If ana can’t be meta while Moira is strong she won’t be
One 10 second ability just doing too much. It heals/boost allies hp, it denies enemy healing, it’s only tool to self heal. And all of this on gargantuan 10s cd. Ana pays too much for just 100hp selfheal

Ana is viable, but only in her niche.
People are so set on burst healing they don’t realize this high skill character will Always be limited to low skill environments where she doesn’t have to aim.
I’d gladly sacrifice burst healing for more consistent healing over time or something. Her healing needs a rework.

The issue is it does so much but it’s very hard to maximize.

Her utility is her ability to top 4 tanks with copious amounts of healing in a matter of seconds. That’s her utility. The fact that her resource bar doesn’t care if it’s only 1 person taking the juice or 4.

That ability is bested by Moira and countered by one enemy forcing you to duel

It is when combined with the above. She gets outclassed the higher you go. The only reason she’s still picked so often in higher ranks is because she’s sulf-sufficient so she’s good for solo q (which is how the majority of the playerbase plays).
You can’t seriously believe that Ana doesn’t need changes of some kind. So many of her problems are fundamental issues with her design and go way beyond the meta.
Sniper? 
Access to high ground like the other snipers? 
Great utility grenade which can cancel out healing and boost the healing of allies? 
But wait! This invaluable grenade must be wasted on herself almost every time it’s off CD because it’s the only way she can self heal.
Not to mention just general issues that really shouldn’t be issues. Like her full health teammates literally blocking her from healing her teammates who actually need it, forcing her out of position.
She just has too many issues right now. And even if you do learn to get incredibly good with her, you can easily be outplayed by a decent Moira or Mercy. Meeting the skill cap is not worth the reward.
That’s not utiity. That’s the function of a healer.
Utility is anything that adds extra value compared to basic abilities. No other healer can heal multiple people so much in so short time with a non-ultimate ability. Even Ana who manages to get a good grenade won’t be able to output those levels of healing. And that’s not even counting Moira’s orb. Or her ultimate which is less important but it still can keep Moira and someone else alive if they are being badly pressured.

Yes. If the enemy doesn’t have flankers and is running a static comp with nothing to contest you, you can blatantly exploit that.

The reason why she is picked in high ranks is because in high ranks there’s plenty of 3-tank and 4-tank compositions. The moment Mercy was nerfed, average tank count per game in GM went from 1.8 to 2.2-2.25. Indicating that quad tank is being played in at least some stages of the game. And you pick Moira for that. And I disagree on the fact that she gets outclassed. In M and GM, Moira heals more than Mercy. Almost 15k compared to Mercy’s 13.5k.
