I’m talking about pretty much all forms of displacement effects. Or more specifically, abilities that push, pull, launch, etc.
Okay, lets start with the most obvious example: Lucio’s Boop.
Does every hero in the game “weigh” differently? Cause I know Dva hardly moves if she’s being knocked around. Meanwhile Rein is able to bounce all over the place.
Shouldn’t all tanks by rule be more resistent to displacement abilities? Compared to say, a Tracer or a Symmetra?
Is there some hidden math behind this? How does such abilities effect every individual hero differently? Is there even any difference?
Orisa and D.Va don’t move as much when hit with Boops because they sort of become…’weighted’ when they’re firing. To my knowledge this is the only real difference

The post above me pretty much beat me to it. Everyone has the same weight for the most part. (despite looks.)
Yeah I’ve noticed this from playing Orisa a lot. That her primary fire seem to slow EVERYTHING down.
I too have seen this with Orisa. She barely moves. If I boop anything else they go flying hahaha.
It’s based on the current momentum of the target. In the examples of D. Va and Orisa, both heroes slow down when firing. D. Va also has strong momentum when using her jets, and Orisa obviously has fortify. If they are just standing there without firing, there is no momentum impact, so they will boop per usual.
As an example (and I am just making up numbers here), let’s say Orisa’s firing slows her down by 75% (again, I don’t know the real number). Boop pushes an enemy 5m in its base form. When Orisa is firing, multiply the 5m by (1-.75). So boop would only have an impact of a firing Orisa of 5m*(1-.75)=1.25m.
At least that’s how I understand it to be

Seems legit. When a charging rein is booped hes FLYING because his speed is massive and his ability is ongoing.
All heroes have the same “weight” and will all fly the same distance when booped without any other effects in play
However the movement penalty D.Va & Orisa both have while firing doesn’t differentiate between movement they do of their own free will and movement forced by an outside factor, so as a result D.Va & Orisa gain an indirect knockback resistance while firing their weapons.
there is no weight, it is all about movement
moving in the same direction as the boop increases the distance, moving in the same direction while airborne increases the distance massively
movement impairing effects also apply to the boop, so a shooting dva or orisa will get booped way less
