How does Widow's Gun Work?

I’ve always wondered how her gun works in the first place. At first, I though it might have been energy based with the look of the ammo cell she reloads into her gun, and the fact the the weapon’s sniper shots and SMG shots drain from the same ammo supply. But after seeing the “Alive” short with the zoom-in on the fatal bullet, it shows the bullets are physical. So. How does it work? Thoughts?

It’s a future gun that has future bullets.

Some sort of railgun.
The ammo pack, is also the battery pack

Pulse munitions are some sort of energy-based projectile.

Given that McCree’s pulse-munition based Peacekeeper also makes ricochet-sounds when fired at walls, it’s probably an indicator that the projectile is physical, and the Pulse part is some combination of charging or how the projectile is propelled.

In Widow’s case, it’s probably some sort of railgun. The canisters are filled with bullets, and the canister itself also has a propellant/energy source that makes it charged with energy.

Good old fashioned metal bullets.

In Alive we see a spark in the muzzle and the bullet is cased with metal. The sound effects has the mechanics of a spring for the hammer which you can hear it upon impact to the bullet (the metal “ping” sound).
