How does the system detect cheat?

TLDR: My account got banned last night for “cheat” and this is my first time to get banned and I don’t understand why and how.

Feel free to see my profile. I’m a long time Junkrat player (600+ hours), I occasionally love to play ball (knocking people off), mei, moira, mercy, and sym. None of these characters requires an aimbot.

So no I can’t aim. And yes I play these characters mostly for this reason. Now I’m just very confused. I’ve never been banned before so I just submitted a ticket. Can someone enlighten me what possibly just happened? And also what else can I do to help myself? TIA.

We get banned players come on here claiming innocense quite often. We’ve even had Jeff himself roast a banned player on here. You aren’t going to get much sympathy.

C’mon dude, even I’m skeptical at the best of times but no need for this, who uses cheats as a Junk main with a gold border.

I don’t need any sympathy. I understand this forum is not a way to get my account back (hence I submitted the ticket) I just want to understand what’s possibly going on in my scenario. Also i don’t share my computer so any insight will help. Is my computer hacked? Should I take any other actions?

Do you use any third party software that interacts with the game? That could trip the cheat detector

Is there a junkrat cheat? What can a junkrat cheat possibly do?

Do you use any program with any kind of overlay? Stuff like Discord and GeForce Experience are whitelisted, but you might have something that is not. Screen recorder, sound capture, mouse macro software, etc.

I can’t think of any. I recently bought NordVPN and I might forget to turn it off when I connected to Canada.

Yeah there are aimbots even for projectile heroes, but I’m pretty sure they’re much more expensive/hard to make

No nothing like that. I’ve used win10 game recorder couple times for recording some of my full replays.

Try to post that on Tech Support subfórum. They might have better answers for you. I can’t think of anything that might trigger a false positive that is not overlaying over your screen.

Huh! Never heard that before. I understand Blizzard doesn’t need to provide any evidence to me and they can just delete my account for any reason. But oh well I had a good time these years with Overwatch anyway. Thinking of it as a timely subscription I don’t feel too bad now.

If they shared how cheats are detected, it would be that much easier to get around it.

Plus, I don’t believe you. Everytime someone has come on here and say they didnt cheat up and down, Jeff occasionally comes on here and roasts them with the facts that they did indeed cheat in some way.

By the way, cheating doesnt just mean what you think it means, it means what Blizzard defines it as, and by playing the game you acknowledge that you have read the Terms of Service that are outlined so you should know just how much their definition encompasses.

Anything from using a glitch in game to get an advantage to using some external machine to hack is all included.

I’ve got my lvl 14 smurf banned for “cheating” On the next day after my ticket sent it’s unbanned, cause it was babycry spam reports for someone being better at the game, which they think is “cheating” So just send to B something like you play fair and they can freely check all your stuff to convince.

Can’t help but notice that not once in your post did you say that you didn’t cheat.

Generally, the first thing a legitimately innocent person will do is deny accusations BEFORE trying to form an argument explaining why there is no good reason for you to do so.

Whereas the first thing a guilty person will do is suggest there is no proof, explain why they would never do that, or challenge the credibility of the person accusing them. It is only AFTER they do that will they think to say “I don’t cheat”.

So, hey. Good luck on your new account.

you can get your account banned/temporarily suspended until further notice after a certain amount of “cheating” reports i believe

i really doubt that you are cheating and i believe it was just false reports. you barely played this season and only played tanks, and only play junkrat, which although players can cheat on junkrat you will probably never find one when you play overwatch

Basically what the client have is an addition called “Warden” to it. This functions in the way that it takes a snap of the hash values on your PC, sends it to the server and compare that snap with hash values of known cheat programs.

So you might have some program or something on your computer that registers on the same hash values.

It seems like a lot hassles. I might try to gather more info once I have my ticket responded. Thanks for the info.

To [OnePointSix], [SilentStorm]:
Thanks. I did piss off my teammates by playing ball. And most of my enemies hated me when I junkrat solo ulted. So I certainly could’ve got a lot of reports. What else can I send to Blizzard to prove I play fair? They are very welcomed to check all my stuff. Even Jeff is very welcomed to look into it. And maybe he can tell me why my ow games always lagged.

I don’t understand your logic but thanks for proving a fake theory (hey I know I didn’t lie so I guess I’ve learned something from you). Also, if my account is not returning to me, I’ll just give up on all blizzard games. I’ve also been playing the stupid d3 since 2012. It’s okay for me to cut an addiction anyway.

It’s okay that you don’t believe me. And no i still don’t know what’s causing the ban (Ticket still opens). I’ve never used any glitch in any game to gain wins. Even when there was a glitch for sombra to hide underground in the korean map one time, I didn’t participate but just left the game. Also, I don’t like playing sombra cuz I can’t aim.

To [Pharazon]
If Blizzard can show me what it is, I might be able to have a better cyber hygiene for my computer. Banned account comparing to this is not a big thing.

I mean Blizzard did false ban a lot of people in the past. It’s probably a false positive. Hopefully Blizzard doesn’t give you a stupid automated post but in the event it happens just keep try contacting people.

anti cheat system detects cheat in this way (well for the most part)

There is a graph monitoring all your mouse movements, since a human’s hand is very unstable, the graph’s line will be very jittery and go back and forth.

when someone uses an aimbot, the line graph is a straight line, because there is no disturbance or unstableness from a human error. so if that happens you get banned. (Well thats how its supposed to work but Ive faced a few cheaters)
