My partner and I have been playing Competitive Mystery Heroes recently as of Season 5 (never played this mode in general ever before) and only played together, we had 8 losses before getting our 5 wins and getting our first rank. I was placed Silver 5 and my partner at Platnium 4. Considering we only play the games together and in each game i easily top her damage, healing and k/d ratio.
After putting us in our rank we were that far apart in rank we could not even play competive together due to being greater than 2 full tiers apart.

It’s an absolute crapshoot. I think it’s a RNG on blizzard’s end. The matchmaker and MMR is so out of wack and they care nothing about it. Activision letting another game die. Hackers, boosting, smurfing, terrible matchmaking, it absolutely sucks.

Baiyne couldn’t have given you a better answer. It’s just an RNG crapshoot in any mode other than the main comp mode.
You could both be for example plat players in role que - then go play (as a group) any other comp mode like 3v3, mystery, or open que and each member of your group despite being in the exact same games and sharing the same wins and losses with all get awarded different ranks. There was a group here on the forums like 2 days ago sharing their experience of being diamond players while one ranked in GM for open que and another ranked gold… even though they are both diamond players in the main game.
