So I just played my very first game of Open Queue and got put in a platinum game with some diamonds sprinkled in, which would be normal for some people but my ranks in regular comp are gold, silver and gold.
How does the MMR system in Open Queue work? Is the default rank high platinum?
Default rank should be mid gold. Your arcade MMR might be in the range of plat. At one point mine was too and Iām a mid silver player.
I believe open comp is using MMR from some other comp modes with soft resseting account.
Lets say you are low gold player but you were mid plat in some other arcade comp mode. Or maybe your last rank in open comp seasons was in plat. That mmr is then used as anchor stat for first placement match and account is reseted to clean slate. Meaning it does act as new account in pre role q seasons where loss/win had big impact on placement and every win placement games boosted your mmr like 120 points. And you will get bonus sr after placement, not so strong as in role q tho because open queue has 10 placement games.
Thats why people who are gold or plat can place in diamond or even masters in open comp.
