I climbed out of Bronze a year or more ago and had the same issue. Unfortunately, it seems like they really want you to “prove yourself” to climb out, which would be fine if they did something about all the smurfs that are down there. (For the record, I’m currently Plat and play with Diamonds, so I can attest to this. The way smurfs play down there is very much on the Plat-Diamond level. People like to think Bronzes are just mad and complaining because they’re bad and lost - which can be the case - but a lot of the time there is truth in their claims.)
But yeah, you’ll get a few points here and there for a win, but eventually 3-6 points turns to 6-9, which turns to 9-15, which turns to 15-20, then stabilizes. I remember the change happening around low silver, so you’re almost there. It’s rough. I can empathize. Keep ranking up and you’ll see those points increase eventually. Just remember: you’ll never beat the system, but don’t let the system beat you. It’s frustrating, but when you stop letting the big losses and small wins get to you, you’ll climb.
For a possible explanation:
I used to think it was performance-based, kbasing your damage/healing/KD on the average amount of that rank, but I’ve recently developed an alternate theory:
I *think* this is a remnant from the old system where 500-1500 SR was Bronze, then it started to normalize with 1500-2000 was Silver, then 2000-2500 was Gold, etc. or something like that. Bronze had so much more space to climb than before, so even if you’re winning an actual 20-30 points per game (around the same normal amount as every other rank), you’re earning less percent than other ranks because of the wider gap. Once you get to Silver, each rank is 100 points, so 20 points out of 100 is the same as the percentage.
I have absolutely no proof to back that up, but it makes sense and explains the low percentages until you get to Silver.
Anyway, good luck on your climb.
