How does matchmaking really work?

I’m honestly tired of constantly going up against players who are clearly way above my skill level.

I’m just a mediocre player—maybe even a bad one—but I enjoy jumping into the game every now and then. The problem is, every single time I do, I get matched with people who act like their lives depend on winning. Their skill level is just ridiculous compared to mine.

I know I’m not good at the game, and I’ve made peace with that. So why am I never matched with players around my level? It’s frustrating to lose over and over again just because the game keeps throwing me into matches with tryhards or no-lifers who spend all day grinding Overwatch.

I get it—players like me probably exist so others can rack up wins and feel motivated to keep playing. But seriously, why am I never matched with people on my level so I can at least enjoy a win every now and then?

it basically doesn’t exist, esp. for casual modes. they just care about getting IN and out of games as fast as possible, so you go click on the store. stomp or be stomped that is OW2 non-ranked modes, never had these type of games so consistently in OW1… sad.

From what Ive read, its based on the amount you play matches and your performance in those matches if you dont play often enough, you will get “random” assignments to teammates.

Also, the players you are matched with could be Smurfs. Smurfs are highly-skilled players who create new, alt accounts so they can dominate lower-level players. The matchmaker thinks they are new, inexperienced players so thats how they are matched.

Typically, smurf players have Battletags that joke, mock or make fun of more serious names. Some BT might even be offensive. And smurfs sometimes group together when they queue, which makes stomps all the more painful to endure.

It’s broken mate! Try not to understand it as it will just upset you! I feel the same way it’s terrible if you want to have fun but constantly get into teams that is horrible
