Bullets I understand.
Projectiles I understand.
Weird floating orbs…fine.
But a giant rocket propelled hammer just doesn’t really fall into the bullet/projectile category. Deflecting melee punches is more believable because those are nothing but mere fists, but blocking the giant hammer…not buying it.

game mechanics, thats all
Its like in action movies where the small and agile can slide on a big but slow hitting weapon to dodge it
he can DEFLECT FIRESTRIKE
but can’t deflect sigma’s rock
this game is weird
Sure, if he dodges it he doesn’t take damage obviously. But when you actually hit him, it’s a giant hammer and deflecting it makes no sense.
Like someone said, he can’t deflect Sigma’s rock, I would put Reinhardt’s hammer within the realm of the rock in terms of stuff he shouldn’t deflect.
Because deflect blocking melee is a crutch. Barriers don’t block melee, defense matrix doesn’t block melee, and kinetic grasp doesn’t block melee. Why don’t these TANK abilities block melee but this DAMAGE ability can? Even when he was “bad” I thought this was stupid.

He redirects the momentum.
Deflecting a giant hammer makes way more sense than deflecting bullets or energy weapons, honestly.

The video game standard is that deflecting abilities are countered by melee attacks. That’s why everyone instinctively tries to melee him while deflect is up.

But he doesn’t deflect Sigma’s rock therefore there are inconsistencies. It makes more sense to make him not deflect the rock and hammer then deflect everything but one or two abilities.
He doesn’t deflect the hammer. He blocks/parries it.
Something, something, parrying. There are quite a few projectiles that wouldn’t just “deflect” traditionally, but oh well.
So it just needs a name change? If it deflects and parries, don’t just call it Deflect.
he can deflect gravity itself, he only blocks the hammer, were lucky he dosent cut reins hammer in half creating a black hole
It doesn’t need a name change. The in-game explanation of the ability already states that it deflects projectiles and blocks melee.
Seriously, melee hits are like, the only thing he should be deflecting
I mean he can somehow deflect fire so i think overwatch is made to make no sense
And my argument is a giant rocket propelled hammer shouldn’t fall into the same category as regular melee, similar to how they decided Sigma’s rock can’t be deflected, that’s all
how does some heroes let’s say ana survive a mccree’s headshot ??
IT’S A BULLET GOING THRU UR HEAD

You can buy him deflecting energy orbs, rockets, frickin’ gravity wells, Bastion mini gun shots while also deflecting them back at the same speed and perhaps all of that at the same time which would require Flash level reaction time, and extreme strength(not to mention a knife made out of indestructible material)
But you can’t see how Genji might able to parry a giant hammer?
As far as things Genji can do with that knife of his, parrying a hammer is one of the lesser ones.
