So I did my placements as support won 4 out of 5. Ended 2795. Used Ana, Zen and Mercy on matches and like 10 min of Brig. This morning I decided to play a bit and lose 3 out of 3 and it left me in 2399 points… so I’m not good as plat I suppose.
A couple of min ago I went back to play, won 3/3 and I’m at 2650. So what’s the point of taking so much SR off from me and then give it back. This tells me the matchmaking is not good at all. Is there a point where it stabilize?
looks like you have a new account… it’s trying to place you most likely and is assessing your skill and where you should be on the competitive ladder
It will never stabilize. I can lose sometimes 300-400 sr, game become too easy and I will get back up quickly and fall back again. Too much randomness and smurfs can ruin my SR and I will end up in very easy games and climb back again… Too much carried by smurfs and games become too hard… It’s too much mess right now.
It’ll stabilize soon, it just takes around 25 matches.
After that you get around 25 -/+ SR depending on loss and wins.
System tends to place you higher or lower though you’ll get to the correct ranking eventually.

Its normal. Its after placement SR bonus which starts at around 120 SR and is slowly declining in over course of 15 matches.
This sounds like your very first comp matches (on a new account).
Short story:
You start getting a lot of SR per win/loss.
Each later game you get less SR per win or loss.
As others have said the SR from a win or loss drops to about +/- 25 SR.
You can see this as the “new account bonus”, as such it is critical for you to win your early matches as you will have to win many more games later to gain the same amount of SR.
Note: New seasons wont help as your SR will just carry over season to season.
