How do you personally improve at Overwatch 2?

I just started playing when Overwatch 2 came out and feel like I’ve made some progress in getting better. I play Tank mostly and am only around Silver 2-3 so still a ways to go.

So far I’ve just played lots of games and watched random YouTube videos.

How have you improved your game? I’ve looked around and saw a few things like AimTraining replays, coaching websites (Metafy?) but curious what others have done to improve their game.

I started one tricking my best hero. That was when I saw the biggest improvement

Back when I was super serious about getting better, I watched top500 gameplay of my hero and looked for advice/guides on my hero from top500 players. Other ways I’ve gotten better is:

  • trying out/learning every role so I can better understand what’s required of me from my main role
  • watching gameplay analysis/advice from top500 players and/or pro/esports coaches
  • studying maps (memorising where health packs are, learning routes and setups)
  • improving gamesense (tracking cooldowns, ultimates & ult economy, learning hero counters, learning “tells”, e.g. when an enemy is gonna ult like when a genji dashes into the air, lots more stuff)

Idk if those aim trainers work so can’t really recommend any, my aim is pretty poor but I get bored in them so quick lol.

One of the things which will make tremendous effect is making proper mouse sensitivity and eDpi. Your aim shoud improve drastically overall and you’ll get better dps in your matches.

Same for me, I feel like the value I get when I just have an average game as Rein is equal to the value I get playing any other hero and popping off. The game just feels much easier and slower paced somehow. But unfortunately I played him too much and got bored so I will probably never make it back to high diamond/low master again.

One on one coaching is the way to go, I tried everything else but personally, nothing else worked for me, and one on one coaching is catered to your exact play since it’s a one on one review of a game

Play heros that you enjoy playing the most. And from their master it and you will see major improments.

It took me 1 year and 2 months to get from silver to GM my 1st time. So I would say, time and dedication is all you need. Don’t look for simple answers, just get the experience. Learn your patterns, and every time you die in match, ask your self “What could I have done better?” and be hard and honest with yourself.

First and foremost,
Don’t blame your team or the matchmaker for your losses. The one constant in every one of your matches, is you.

You can’t recognize your shortcomings if you just blame everyone else. The first step to getting better is recognizing there’s a problem in the first place.

This is true in every aspect of life, games included.
