How do you have fun playing this?

Honest question

I’m a support main, I haven’t played in over a year because Ow2 was in such a horrid state. The community is… Actually the worst I’ve ever seen, like it’s worse than League, and that’s saying a lot.

I don’t really care about winning, I honestly used to just enjoy playing the game, but now it’s like… Every single queue is the same 3 things.

Tank goes Doomfist, runs in and dies, then spams “I need healing”, rinse repeat.

DPS are actively doing less damage than we (the supports) are doing passively.

Someone is win trading or deranking an account to sell (I’ve seen 4 of them in 2 days).

Am I missing something? Is this what OW has become now?

I actually do not enjoy the game in any meaningful capacity. I’ve already squelched both map and team chat (did that day 1) due to the sheer number of slurs and other ridiculous things that have been said, but it’s like… Not even the gameplay is fun anymore…

This doesn’t seem normal. Is it normal?

Yeah these are all normal experiences, the deranking bots tend to be gold or lower but the toxic and incompetent teammates are worse than ever in plat/diamond as well.

I just like shooting things but ya…those things happen so i just hope my shooting things can even the odds

For me its just a 50/50 experience heh

I play purely out of an addiction to the style of gameplay. There (currently) isn’t anything remotely similar to OW on the market right now.

That being said, Tribes 3 looks promising once it gets some more content and Gigantic is making a comeback, so we do have other hero shooters to look out for that may be more fun/have better devs/have better communities.

I like to say “pew, pew, pew” whenever I shoot.

This is the only true answer

FR.

Riveting gameplay
Teammates who are actually competent
Good cosmetics (though this is subjective)
Interesting storyline (because they threw that out the window and don’t even know how to finish the campaign)
Fun, interesting, well balanced characters
Well designed maps
Fun game modes (R.I.P 2CP)

No one who cares about the aforementioned actually truly likes playing Overwatch.

If “like game” = true, then run “play game”
If “like game” = false, then run “different game”

The game is miserable for supports if you are expecting to be able to heal anything. Get value out of getting picks and doing chip damage and farm up your ult as much as possible.

Or just play Zen and go full DPS. There are options.

I play only Hanzo. That’s my fun. When someone else picks Hanzo. I throw the game and leave.

It’s nu-normal.

Or just do what I used to.

Play Reaper and just stand in front of a tank that has no idea what they’re doing and melt them.

I don’t think very many people take the game seriously anymore. A small faction of the player base tries to convince the rest that the game is balanced, but the overwhelming majority understands it’s in a catastrophically bad state. Given the devs said they like the direction it’s going it’s clear they are completely clueless and nobody can reasonably expect anything to ever improve.

They’re acting very much like a studio that wants their game to die so they can move on to something else. It genuinely feels much more like self-sabotage than it does a studio trying to make a game the best it can be.

I said it on another post, I exclusively play this game because there’s nothing similar to it. That’s also most of the current playerbase, I’d imagine.

What would that be? They planning to drop OW 3 with 4v4 and no tanks? I wouldn’t be surprised, honestly.

I just brush these people off like they’re idiots. Most of the people who think the game is fine weren’t around when it actually had a buy in; therefore, their opinions mean nothing to me. The game wasn’t worth it for you to buy, yet now that it’s free, they praise it to high heavens, even when the game, at it’s core, is no longer a team-based game. It’s COD with extra steps. Which doesn’t surprise me, given the fact the CEO used to be affiliated directly with COD.

I’m just waiting for them to start self-inserting themselves as characters and make them super OP. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if I looked and one day there was a character modeled after Aaron Keller in the game.

It should not be normal; however, in the case of Overwatch, this is the standard experience. It’s wild to think about. I suppose most people are just desensitized to it because it is quite egregious. The playerbase swears up and down that this is mild compared to whatever game hurt their feelings, but this is observably the worst I have personally experienced.

Yes it’s normal. The game has devolved into dung.

Abandon the ship.

Players like this are one of many reasons this game has deteriorated and gone down hill, congratulations

It’s kind of like the chicken and the egg. Did players cause this, or is it simply a reaction to the never ending problems the game has? I think if the game was balanced people wouldn’t be throwing, I think that’s a symptom where some people have said enough is enough, I’m not going to win anyways so I’ll do what I want.

Been playing like that since OW1, lol. If you don’t suck, I doubt my presence would affect your gameplay.
