How do you figure out your sensitivity

I have really inconsistent aim. It seems like sometimes I need more sensitivity and sometimes less.
Then there are all those other bars about acceleration, linear ramp up, aim assist windows etc. So how does anyone get to their ideal accuracy.

Is there such thing as an active aim adjust that gauges your movements and adjusts your settings to give your best results?

I’m probably loosing so much value on just this issue.

When I started playing this game, my sensitivity was outrageously high… around 30. I got used to it, and it worked for a time, but when I started playing more aim intensive heroes… I had to lower it.

So what I did… was lower it the number by only one every few days as I kept playing. I did that over the course of a few weeks until I reached 16 where I currently sit. Anything lower than that and it just felt too slow.

You’ll just have to experiment and find out for yourself. Yes, it’ll take time, but it’ll be worth it in the end.

I am sure there is a snow flake test out there some where but if you cry every time you see a piece of paper your probably too sensitive.

Realistically it’s a matter of preference and what you can put up with. More sensitivity is good for quick flick shots and turning around fast, lower sensitivity is obviously better for more precise shooting while scoped. Even the Pro’s are all over the board at what is better.

I will say hero choice matters a lot as well, some need more or less sensitivity than others. Winston for example imo needs super responsive controls so you can spin on a dime and keep up with a close target. his attack is a wide AoE so precision isn’t required, fast turn around time is.

Other hero’s are a bit more give and take. Widow for example having high sensitivity means you can track the screen faster, even while scoped but might find it harder to land a 1 pixel head shot at range.

It differs for every person, and a higher or lower sensitivity can be helpful to various characters for various reasons.

Me, I hate acceleration. I move my mouse the extent I want to turn at my set sensitivity. When I was new to PC gaming, I used to play with an extremely high sensitivity because I didn’t have much room to play (about 4" x 4" with a 3" 2.5" mouse). For me, I had to get a bigger space and then work my sensitivity down once every few days or weeks. I’m not great at aiming, but I’m leagues better than I used to be.

In your case, I really can’t provide a solid formula. I would suggest avoiding acceleration, though, because it makes many motions complicated for no real reason. From there, just try to get used to what you’re doing and work the sensitivity down very slowly. Lower sensitivity allows for more precise aim for pretty much all players. You’ll still want a sensitivity that allows you to make quick movements, though, so it’s really about finding that precise balance.

I remember those good old days of a 6 inch mouse pad and a ball tracked mouse. It was super annoying to have to lift the mouse to do a 360 because you ran out of space on lower sensitivity.

I used ioStux PSA method. It actually worked very well for me. Although others have had mixed results. It’s given me a sens so comfortable i don’t really need to warm up for games anymore.

Well, the nurse have me an Elmo doll and told me to point where it hurt.

What’s your current dpi/sens ?

The issue is that you can get used to pretty much any sensitivity so even if you’re playing on way way too high sens, you might think it’s fine. Tho in the end, it all comes down to personal preference.

I for example play on 5 ingame sens @ 800dpi, this could still be considered way too high but I used to play at like 14 ingame @ 800dpi. After the initial struggles, this new sensitivity is way better and more consistent and I try to mimic it across games.
Bare in mind, it’ll always take time getting used to a new sens, if you decide to go lower or whatever, don’t swap back to your old sensitivity just because you struggle at first.
