I’m actually curious. Because in my eyes a stomp would be seeing a lot of zeros on the scoreboard. Both in winning teams deaths and losing teams elims. But what would you all classify as a stomp?
Personally I only consider it a true stomp if one of the teams didn’t win a single team fight.
I thought about that too when I typed it out.
Having one team being completely wiped every fight while the other one losing almost no players.
I consider it a stomp/stomped game when one team was at a clear disadvantage. So much so that they could barely even leave spawn before getting wiped. A low key stomp is when say the initial attackers get Payload all the way to the end and then the rotated attackers barely cap 1st.
I’m surprised more aren’t jumping up to define the word they use on a daily basis here. So we all just agree a stomp is not winning a single team fight?
I feel saying “clear disadvantage” is a dangerous way to go about it though. because now any excuse for a disadvantage is a stomp.
By clear disadvantage, I mean they are literally incapable of dealing with the enemy composition. I’ve had a few games (both my team as well as enemy team) just be unable to deal with the enemy comp.
And with our current match maker? It’s not that hard to understand when my last few games gave me mid golds and high silvers while the enemy had mid to high plats, one gold, and someone who managed to at least reach Diamond.
But what can you do? Just gotta take the lows and highs in stride and hope the next match is a little more balanced.
I feel as a guesstimate plat player. I haven’t experienced many games where we don’t win a team fight at least. A full stomp isn’t something I personally feel to often.
the way i would define a stomp would be with like maps like Push and payload on defence its impossible to stop the payload from moving no matter how hard you try and on attack you can’t get out of spawn due to spawn camping
as for push the winning team always has the robot and never lets go and to flex their dps spawn camp the spawn so nothing can stop the robot
as for Control point or KOTH winning team has captured the point 100% losing team has 0%
Stomps are essentially when your team loses every neutral fight and also loses the majority of the ult fights.
Stomps often happen, because of the neutral fights, but get wild when the losing team has horrible ult usage.
Example: Ulting without team being ready or ulting and killing no one or ulting when the enemy team has just capped the point (escort maps).
Edit:
I suppose my main point is that often people lose, because their teammates, or they themselves, make dumb decisions and those spiral out of control. The loss can then be perceived as a stomp, but they aren’t losing because they are worse mechanically. They are losing, because they gave up an advantage and they are making bad choices on how to play/position in that disadvantage.
People in here are gonna give you a million different answers, but really they will say a game was a “stomp” if they lost.
it’s when you can’t even leave the spawn room
This ^^^ The also like to call em a sushi roll.
Delicious to some people and disgusting to others.
an involuntary inability to compete. which is still noticeable do to the overcrowded current server center. although stomps occurred with previous server provider, the current one is an astronomical nightmare due to overbooking/servicing other game titles. DEVS reactivate google’s low ping servers, which although weren’t perfect, were far better than current overbooked nightmare servers.
A stomp i would call spawn camping the enemy of the bat, thats a stomp not letting them get the point and just holding them hostige at their spawn.
When your team basically doesn’t even get a team fight it’s just their tank + enemy team walking at you while your team rarely gets a pick and the cart/objective is consistently being pushed.
When you see the scorebord and you all have two elims between you and the entire enemy team is in double digits each… its pretty darn obvious when it’s a stomp.
If I lose, it’s a stomp
I would say that the overall difference in performance on both sides being really huge. Stats can be indicative, but also indicative of bad formation, lack of coordination and lack of teamwork.
While 5v5 punishes more on bad formation and team composition. If one team actually put too much pressure to the point of the other barely leaving the spawn can show a red flag and that is an indicative of stomp if the team doesn’t change how they play.
Another situation would be the match ending pretty much without “resistance”, like payload/robot being delivered mostly without stop or not even reaching the 1st point. Which often also is more related to “bad formation” than unfairness.
When control points being pretty much won 100% against 0.
With the perk of, basically the match have the “minimum” time to win or really near to it. Which would represent about 2 minutes of a match.
While K/A/D can be a indicative of unbalanced match, also can indicate one team being more organized and have a better teamwork, not exactly skill issue but, teamwork issue.
That’s why stats often I don’t take it seriously, due some matches my team had bad stats and with 1-2 hero swaps we won the match and our stats increased really fast. Teamwork, team composition and coordination often are what decides the outcome.
Some “stomps” are just like of those 3, while others are simply “smooth sailing” either by the result of those 3 or simply an unbalanced match. From my experience, more often than not, is because of those 3 not because the matchmaking gave unfair match.
So, for me stomps are matches that end too fast, as if were speedruns, either by bad formations or simply unbalanced match. While some cases the winning side “try to make the match longer” is visible when those situations happen, if the losing team doesn’t adapt or react to, the “stomp” just “completes”.
How would you define that it’s cold outside? Might be different from person to person, but in general you know it. If you see the match is totally onesided and one team loses every or almost every teamfight.
