Is there a play that can circumvent her? I feel like she’s Big Brothering every game I’m in.
I think to counter widowmaker is with another widow of equal or greater skill. She can safely kill the widow from a distance unlike other heroes such as winston or genji because if they dive her the enemy team can just dive on them

This. The higher you go in the ranks the harder it is to dive a widow. The only reliable way to contest a widow is to have a sniper in your team.

That’s what I was afraid of. Why does Widowmaker only get countered by herself?
Widowmaker is the best counter to Widowmaker. But Winston and D.Va are also profoundly good at keeping her attention/defensive.
Aside from those harder counters, characters like Zenyatta are pretty decent at peeking around the corner and unloading a bunch of damage on her with projectiles.
The best way is to just be better at making space for your dps than the other team is at making space for theirs. A widow under pressure gets less shots, and the shots she does take are harder to hit and stressful. The easiest way to achieve this is to be more aggressive with initiations. This puts a lot of pressure on the Widow to actually land her shots. Having another widow that is better is nice and all, but even an inferior widow will win vs a better one if she gets more space, and thus more shots with less pressure.
Lucio deathball with speed boost and initiate hard with stuns from mcree and brig for example and widow won’t have much time to do anything. Coordinated attacks really put widow at a disadvantage. She’d have to kill faster than your team does and come out on top with a disadvantage in numbers.
Even a bit of harassment from range also limits her a lot. Zen and soldier are some of the best at that as they can poke at her and then heal back up and both can kill her as she can’t move very fast when scoped. Remember even top tier Widow’s only land 1/5 - 1/10 headshots and a lot of those are surprise headshots you don’t expect coming. If you’re actively making yourself hard to headshot it’ll be even less than that.
I’ll say for a fact healers usually ignore widow and getting health packs will cost her a lot of time.
She used to be countered by dive, but those comps are pretty much dead this season.
She’s also been a lot better at escaping ever since he hook cooldown has been reduced. I think you’re best off sticking close to Reinhardt.
Sombra HARD counters Widow. Really hard. It is actually one of the worst match-ups in the game. Beyond that, you can dive with Winston or D.Va, it is not as easy, but they absolutely counter her. Hanzo is a decent counter now, fire your vision arrow, spam Storm Arrows at her head while you hop. A bit more “skill-based,” I suppose, but pretty reliable once you get used to it.
Sombra isn’t in a good place right now at all, but I do agree 1v1ing a Sombra that hacked you and has a head start on damage, and you can’t escape with hook, it is only possible to win for Widow if the Sombra is a bad shot or Widow pulls out a clutch headshot while having her aim knocked around. She also denies Widow health packs she needs since healers basically ignore her.
1- Stop playing Junkrat.
2- Convince your other DPS to actually play a character who can threaten her.
3- Be a better Widow.

In this meta, Winston/D.va which are unreliable due to Brigitte so playing Widow or Hanzo against her are the best options.

I’m no expert, but I would suggest that you try flanking them. If they’re in a hard-to-reach location then I suggest using McCree or Soldier: 76 to take them out from a range or use Sombra, Junkrat, or Genji to get up close to them. Pharah can work if they’re a bad shot and Reaper can get close to them with his Shadow Step, though this is unadvised to to how loud it is and how you can’t do anything during it. I would highly discourage trying to counter snipe them, mostly just because it can be very tedious.
Oh, no one mentioned Mei either. Mei can be really good on some maps vs her as you can wall her out of the fight almost 50% of the time and mei can also take her out at a fair distance.
Even a worse widow drastically takes attention from the enemy, because being in the open shot for a widow is death.
If you eliminate barrier tanks and counter-snipers, all you have left is Dive. And Dive is getting crushed right now by Bridgitte, so I suggest returning to the first two options.
This is from a gold player so might be way diff than gm or masters.

My opinion I play soldier a lot atleast in season 9. I used to flank her from behind and just put some headshots. Or just burst her down from another los.
Winston… Whenever I see a Widow or Hanzo, I swap to the hairy beast and sizzle them up close until they turn into an overcooked tempura.
