For such a devastating move, it sure seems easy to pull off. Say Sombra is behind you and begins hacking - how do you stop it? First you’d have to turn around then you’d have to find her location somewhere behind you not in your initial line of sight, and do it all within .6 seconds. I feel like the increased hack speed was the buff nobody asked for or am I wrong?
most heroes can just spray her as soon as they turn around or use any sort of mobility move to cancel it
Shoot her, gain distance, keep distance.
So it’s as simple as shoot her? Awesome!
Yup, that’s about it. Just point and shoot and it stops her hacking.
Having the reflex to use a good ability against her as soon as you see/hear her hacking you is the key.
As ana, I nade myself for example.
As Winston, leap or shield.
I mean, you don’t really get a chance to avoid it, but it’s rather “easy” to diminish its impact on you.
Most of the time you are going to see Sombra getting out of invis and then hacking someone.
And getting out of invis can be heared pretty easy, so be prepared when yo hear it.
Sombra hacks stop even if she only taken one damage if you got hacked call your healer to protect you Sombra couldn’t out heal Mercy Moira and Ana
Counter to Hack is “kill her before she hacks you.”
Hack is very easy to interrupt if it comes from any direction but behind. In this case, Sombra is in your backline and should be addressed as any other flanker. Simply forcing her to translocate will remove her from the fight making it 5v6.
Shoot the sombra. And the hack speed increase was a necessity so it wasnt completely useless before someone turns around and randomly shoots you. Or the tracer thats in too deep and gets locked out of her escape mechanism and shoots you / blinks out of range of your hack.
So yes, I feel it was necessary. Just pay attention to the audio cues that Sombra has and the loud beeping in your ear telling you are being hacked, bruh.
Don’t 1v1 sombra so your team can kill her after she hacks you
And EMP stay out of its range
I think this is (the) one situation where “Just shoot them” is a valid statement.
If one bullet hits her the hack stops. Turning around hasn’t gotten any harder unless this patch made your mouse spontaneously combust.
You have to locate her and not every character has a spray weapon. There is an interval between shots. So they’d have to turn around, find her, and hit their first shot. I predict hacking will have over a 90% success rate in OWL.
eh i mean those ppl are better at sombra then the average sombra player
You’re late, people have been hacking in OWL for a while now

Listen for her, she’s pretty loud especially if she used stealth to enter hack range. Afterwards even one damage will interrupt it. If you think she’s in area, random spray can sometimes screw her up her plans in the area you suspect she’s located.
this is false, if you start hacking a winston and he decides to jump you’ll be able to cancel it because the tether doesn’t break fast enough. I was watching top 500 player PUGs yesterday with fitzy, no one was able to react to hack fast enough to stop it from going off, no one.
Maybe hero 27 is like Sombra but instead of hacking they will provide Heroes with anti-viruses.
I use Sombra as a backline harasser, which means i’m always fighting a lot of player 1v1 and uses the element of surprise to gain an edge.
There are a few heroes i regularly go after that can consistently counter hack, most of them have an area effect ability that either allows them to shoot behind themselves without turning around, or have a fast acting area effect skill.
Moira-A - She fades the moment i start hacking and she could be anywhere.
Moira-B - Her orb attacks behind her
Hanzo - Aim down and fire scatter
Ana - Aim down and throw grenade
Junkrat - Turn, throw grenade and knock both sombra and himself away from each other
McCree - Turn and flashbang
Usually, players that can do this are mains. They have the action embedded in their muscle memory that allows them to react so fast. Don’t expect to defend yourself against hack just by switching to these heroes without actually having the experience to main them.
