Yup. Basically.

However I would argue playing Competitive, is better than not playing Competitive.

And if Tanks are gonna derank, they will eventually settle to a lower skill tier.

That said, this is why I kinda prefer the win condition version.
Cause that makes the Tanks try to win. I.e. Better hero picks.

And a pretty poor one at that. People will just choose DPS and Support and we will still have no tanks.

Which means meta tanks which mean stale matches which means decrease in match quality.

thats the only solution, unless they somehow find more tank players, which is impossible to do

Shorter queues.

Would you want to play with someone who is one of your 2 healers just so they can play DPs? What if it was that way for both of your healers? Now you have a boostio and battle Mercy and your only source of healing is the poor Solider frantically running around trying to heal everyone.

One might begin to think you actively don’t want devs to fix Role Queue :slight_smile:

If they were to attempt to somehow make it better, I would prefer they actually made it better and not equal or worse to how it currently is.

Nerfing your way out of a bad design decision is an easy way to kill an already dying game. Just remove role queue from quick play. Done.

Which you be basically sounds like “only solutions that involve no downsides are acceptable”.

Which is functionally no different than “I actively do not want devs to make Role Queue better”

I believe you’re really going too far into hypothetical.
The game will still have roles of 2’s, and everyone still has their rank for each role separated.
Do you not trust the ranking system to …erm “Put people where they belong” to make for equal games?

I don’t think you’ve made a single decent argument that the downsides I’ve listed would be worse than the status quo.

You’ve just said “downsides exist” and “I personally don’t enjoy playing Tank”.

Which sounds like it’s blindly implying the current situation of long queue times doesn’t have toxicity and frustration, and would be more desirable.

Or are you implying your “I’d rather AFK than play Tank” applies equally to the entire playerbase?

The phrase “increased toxicity” implies that there is toxicity to begin with that can be increased.

Maybe there is just not enough incentive.

Take the Uber for example. If there is not enough drivers during peak times, they increase prices. Multiplier can be x1.2, or x1.5… but when it’s really peak time (like New Year), multipliers can go as high as x5 or even x7.

And now look at OW incentive. You get 1 box/day and 25 credits per match. It’s not a dynamic system (well it’s dynamic cause it’s on/off, but it’s not that…). It should work like that:
if not enough tanks - basic reward.
If still not enought tanks - better reward
if still - even better reward
and so on.

A box.
25 credits.
100 credits.
double exp.
tripple exp.
5x exp, a box, 1000 credits and 5 skins… if its needed.

Just lure tanks into playing.

I’d like to see “choice of one icon” given that icons are the one item that cant be purchased

You’re still having everyone queue for every role
Which would have people playing roles they don’t want to play.
And even if they are in the “right role” for that rank, it doesn’t make it fair for the people who have to play with them.
