How do we fix the queues?

10-15 minutes queues for dps is certainly not healthy for OW.

What if Blizzard removed the role queue and rewarded players for picking tanks/healers while in the game?

If you played tank/healer the whole match you get a lootbox and extra experience.

  • Option 1. Winning a game of Tank gives you a DPS queue speed boost of roughly equivalent to 10 minutes faster in average skill tiers.
  • Option 2. One third of the time spent playing Tank converts into reduced time queuing for DPS.

Pretty sure this would just make people quit playing. There are many players who’ve never touched the tank role in 3 years.

Nerf Reaper. Reaper is keeping tons of people out of tank queue. Why should I tank when I make no difference if the enemy plays the easiest DPS in the game?

Just in general balancing the DPS would help a lot because one of the worst things about tank/support is that you win or lose based on what the DPS play. I used to DPS purely to make sure we had at least one useful hero.

Let me stop you right, there is about a 0.0000001% chance Blizzard will remove a system that to our knowledge they spent the better half of 2018 / 17 working on.

The only way to permanently fix queue times is to add more Diversity in the Tank and Support roles. But that unfortunately isn’t going to happen overnight, so “While You Wait” is the band-aid currently to relieve some of the pain. :man_shrugging:

They added the play while you wait feature. It’s actually made it seem faster while queuing, but my queues are rarely ever 10 minutes for DPS.

Queuing with friends makes the time seem like it’s going faster as well.

But there’s really nothing they can do to fix the queue times themselves, as it’s based around the player choosing what role they want to play.

The only way to fix the queues is if people stop queueing for DPS.

That won’t happen. If you want to play DPS, cool, so does 75% of the playerbase. Suck it up and wait.

While I agree he may be keeping some out. He is not as powerful as you are making him out to be. I main Hog and Reaper can be an issue.

Key word being, can be an issue. He’s not a issue in every single match.

You know what also isn’t healthy. Claiming fair matching making. While I expect to play with high plats and low diamonds I get high golds and low plats while the enemy team get’s masters and grandmasters. The hell am I supposed to do?

Everyone must queue as all roles.
It will decrease DPS queue times across the board.
Reducing toxicity.
See my other ideas on how to reduce Toxicity with simple over changes like the one you see here.

We need an exchange system. Play tank and sup to earn DPS.

I absolutely hate that I can’t play DPS despite tanking all the time. Tanking earns me nothing but useless cosmetics. I should earn DPS games by tanking.

Players can fix the queues by clicking the tank/healer button.

The devs can fix the queues by making tanks / healers more appealing to play, which in my opinion means reducing frustration levels.

That means nerfing frustrating anti-tank characters (reaper, mei, doom) and anti-support characters (hanzo, widow). The flankers are Ok, but TBH, tracer’s added range is putting her on the edge of “needs a nerf” territory even for Moira.

Increase in toxicity and frustration when you don’t win.

If you are better than the enemy and roll them, this will only result in around 1 minute of time deducted from your DPS queue. So it punishes you for being too good in way.

You don’t. You remove them.

I figure both methods are an approach to make it so throwing/stomping for quick games, isn’t a way to cheat the system.

And either system makes it so you gotta play roughly 2 games to be nearly guaranteed a quick DPS queue in average ranks.

that doesn’t actually fix anything, as the implied dps players doing so are not getting what they truly want (and ergo paid for) from the game…ie, to play dps characters, not simply to access the game

Yeah, by punishing you for being good at the game.

Unless you are good at the game, with which you can expect several more games needed to get a semi decent queue time.

The only healthy way is making more support and tank heroes, however it’s not helpful if you make said new heroes dps hybrids. Because if that happens then we just have dps players playing tank like a dps and playing them very very wrong. Honestly I’ve played mostly dps since role queue and I’m fine with the waits. The funny thing I’ve noticed is dps don’t leave games anymore. Just tanks and supports.

Revert the tank changes except for Sigma who ruined the whole role when he was released making considerable amounts of tank players outright quit the game because they couldn’t have an enjoyable experience for months

Everything i stated in my post is true. If equal numbers of players pressed the DPS, Healer or Tank queue buttons, the queues would be of equal length and “fixed”.

Players bought the game for the right to play it - how they play it is AS A COMMUNITY is up to them. If they all choose to blindly press the same button and complain it takes too long when valid alternatives exist, that’s their fault.

If they want to play with short queues, press the Quick Play Classic button.

As the wise Confucius once said “you caynt always git what you wawnt, but if you traah sometahms, you git whut you neeeed”.
