How do I rank up

I spent 10+ season playing and stuck in plat
Plz don’t tell me to watch streamrs I d rather die before doing that

  1. Post replay codes. Let the community help.
  2. Watch tutorial videos
  3. One-trick (:joy::joy::joy:)

Be more specific. saying that you are stuck in plat would mean a lot of things you might not doing right. bad positioning, not switching, bad aim, bad traget priotity, you are not doing your job (i.e. not flanking as tracer), hero match ups, ult tracking, ability management, call outs.

Tell us a bit about how and who you play.

Limit the amount of heroes you play in a certain category to 2-3 instead of trying to play them all overall. Get decent with them anyway possible.

What role do you play? I was literally hard stuck plat for 4 full seasons before finally crossing over.

The biggest thing that I think made a difference for me was focusing on not dying. Trying to out smart the enemy if you’re not mechanically skilled enough to out play them.

If you open your profile I can try to compare stats to try and figure out what your deficiencies are.

But in the end, posting replays and trying to figure out why you died is important.

I don’t think one-tricking works as well during role queue. I could be wrong tho.

shoot the enemy team and don’t die

iirc plat is micromanaging your abilities while not dying.
using your abilities to soon will leave you open.

But there are a bunch of other stuff to consider, its been a while since i was in plat.

Plat is the worst rank to be in if you want to climb.

Silver, plat, (and they say) masters.

Each of those ranks is a disaster because everyone’s ego is out of place for escaping the previous rank.

True, this is why i stick to gold because Plat is just unprofessional.

But.

I have discovered two key things that can help me climb, one of which is still theoretical and the other is never spoken about in guides.

They are big posts but well worth the read:

So i will try combining these two things and be able to climb soloqueue if my theory is correct.

Just keep playing and watch replays, analyze your own mistakes, that kind of thing. That’s what makes you rank up, not flaming your teammates, as some people would be led to believe. (not referring to you in that last part btw)

Is watching VoDs of streamers ok then? I get not wanting to park yo behind in front of twitch, but watching some of the game that gets uploaded on youtube is kinda sweet. I’d recommend scouting some VoDs on the “Overwatch Daily” channel in that case.

The single strongest tactic in Overwatch is focusing down an enemy DPS or support despite the enemy tank(s) trying to stop you. To consistently use this tactic, you need to know the right heroes.

You need to know how to play Genji, Doomfist, Echo and/or Widow to climb out of plat.

This isn’t to say that its the only tactic that works, but its always strong because its the tank’s job to keep you from focusing their team. When they fail at this job, they can’t really make up for it through duels because a lot of tanks suffer from poor range. In fact, if the enemy tank keeps going for duels, you can doubly punish them by killing them, and charging your ult.

You get better… When you’ve improved to the point in which you consistently delievering as something above plat it wont take long until you rank up.

Analyze your matches in order to identify flaws in your gameplay and work on fixing those flaws. Also grind customs and deathmatchs as that’s a great way to increase your response time, overall accuracy, timings and so on.

Nah, I misread it as you not wanting to watch livestreams, so then I thought you could atleast watch singular games uploaded to youtube of high level streamers playing. My eyes translated “streamrs” to “streams” :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh OK no problem it happens

TLDR: usual stuff, plus make sure you’re making plays. If you just “do your job” you’ll stagnate, or climb slowly.

Play at the limit of your mechanical ability. Always work on mechanics. Crush weak enemy players. Respect strong ones.

I’m trying to apply this in season 23. I’m just finding that I can’t make plays as main tank as too team dependent. I’m going to attempt to climb with Zarya and Hammond. They can frag out without help.

Play open queue. Stop picking weak heroes.
