How do I Improve my FPS Mechanical Skill Fast

I want to improve my FPS mechanical skills. Right now my Elo is around Silver-Gold and I started out in low bronze with my lowest elo ever was 779. I never played an FPS game before I played Overwatch, and just last season I learned how to aim (sort of) and how to constantly improve it.

I want to take my FPS mechanical skill to the next level. Like the ones you see pro-CS:GO players have, high-ranked Battle-Royale players, and Diamond-GM Overwatch players.

I don’t have much or any knowledge about FPS games, besides Overwatch. The only other competitive game that I played was League of Legends, and last time I played that game I was a Diamond ranked player in League of Legends which was 5-6 years ago. I started playing that game in season 2 starting at bronze-silver but quickly climbed their ranked ladder. I believe the main reason why I was able to climb the ladder in League of Legends so quickly was that I played a lot of RPGs which made me good in developing builds, and how to effectively conserve and use cooldowns.

Improving mechanics quickly is hard, but using something like Kovaaks aim trainer, or Aim Hero can help.

Quick tip though, and i think most people will agree, game sense is more important than mechanics.

Most important thing is to have good computer equipment. You want to have a steady 144 (at least) fps, even if it means having to reduce your graphics quality. Also you want fast internet so that you don’t lag, if you don’t have this, it will be very difficult for you to compete against good players.

I would recommend practicing your aim in the “aim arena” mode in the arcade with the heroes you like to play.

start with the basics … what is your mouse sensitivity both in game and the DPI setting for the mouse. these need to be low. google OW pro mouse settings and go from there.

Wrong. Not everybody is good with low sens. some people are killer with medium-high sens and wrist/finger aiming.

they’d be better with low sense if they’d just get used to it.

Where did you read that low sens is objectively better? Because it’s not.

find me pro players that use high sensitivity. go read on your own time, this is an ancient argument and its been settled long ago. lower sense = significantly superior for all FPS twitch type games.

Settled long ago? Lol k then why when I was playing cs 1.6 people were debating it then and people with high sense were doing just as well?

It’s completely a personal preference depending on how you like to play dude, I’m not going to take the time to go google pros that don’t swing their arms around like crazy when I already know they exist and you can do it yourself.

for the same reason dummies used to say “the human eye can’t detect over 60fps” and no … go look up CS pro player settings.

everyone does better with low mouse sense if they force themselves to get used to it.

Search for “ioStux aim secrets” on YouTube. He’s an overwatch coach who has done a fairly extended video series on the subject (it’s like 20ish fairly short videos). Worth checking out!

This is just a straight up lie, done trying to talk to you since you’re single-minded.

even your torb turret would aim better with low sensitivity. idc what you think … the OP asked for advice i’m giving him the advice that has helped lots of players go from terrible to better.

its real simple, get used to low mouse sense. get 144hz monitor. practice.

your baptiste has a stellar 25% accuracy mine has 31%.

OP, if i were you i’d listen to the quick play torb main with piss poor aim on his quick play hitscan heros. he knows whats up!

Oh dang he’s really reaching now and resorting to insults, guess I was right and he really is nothing but a troll.

@OP; I’ve been playing FPS and FPS-hybrid games since the early 2000s and know for a fact that you just need to find what sens you’re comfortable with, plain and simple.

I use low sensitivity. I found out about prosettings com a few weeks ago and just yesterday I copied some pros mouse settings. I have an MMO gaming mouse in which I can change my DPI number to almost anything I want. Right now I have it at 800, and my in-game sens is about 5 (a little higher than 5 because I can’t get the cursor to go to exactly at 5, any tips on how to make it exactly five would be appreciated). I chose 800 DPI, and 5 in-game sensitivity because I noticed that most pros on that website have about 4000 dpi, and use 800 dpi mouses.

Before that I changed my DPI settings to 1000 dpi, and 3.89 in-game sensitivity. This was my settings that I used to help get me out of bronze, in which it felt really weird and made it seem that my mouse was really slow, but it helped me aim a lot better. Before that I had the default options for sensitivity and the same gaming mouse.

Find me pro players that use high sensitivity.

If you say so.

just practice then if you can’t afford a 144hz monitor. disable vsync set in game fps to 300, max out the FoV (103), and disable almost all the ‘nice’ graphics settings.

this is all standard practice in comp FPS games. I’m sure quick play hero will disagree … he’s been playing casually since the early 2000s … wtf do i know.

Also remember that hitscan and projectile are quite different and require different aim styles, with projectile requiring you to use more brain power to calculate the travel time and drop, if all you can play is hitscan that’s OK though.
