I honestly feel like theres nothing i can do in comp. This has happened all season where I would solo que to diamond just to get 7-10 games in a row where nobbody tries, everyone just trolls and not only does it hurts my stats, but also my SR as it makes me look way worse than what I really am.
I am not talking about people who play torb on attack and still show that they’re trying in-game. I mean mercy players who go attack mercy for a full game. People picking rein and getting mad at the team so he refuses to use shield for the rest of the game. My last game was a quad support game with our sym joking that shes a tank while they all ran in one by one and die while joking that its gonna work just trust them.
This is why I cannot rank up in this game as I have zero friends and it seems the only way to really play is to just spam enough games and eventually you’ll get lucky enough where your team actually tries to play the game in any fashion at all which is rare. I’m not asking for my team to have GM level comms, I’m not asking for a mccree to go aimbotcalvin, all i am asking for is a team that tries and I rarely get that so it seems there no use to me trying to rank up because my luck is just horrible
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about “luck”, but there is one thing you can work on:
I would play with you, but I’m on Brazil, and I think the ping would be brutal if you are not from here as well.
Have you tried joining a big streamer discord chat? There is plenty of them that have a dedicated “looking for group” section, where you can find people willing to group up for rank. You don’t even need to follow the channel, just look if they have a public discord, join it, and start talking there.
Humans are social animals, its not hard to form friendship when you meet people with interests in common, and joining an specific Overwatch discord means you already start with one.
Luck averages out over many games played. If we assume that there is one thrower in every game, the the chance that he will be on your team is 5/11, which gives you an advantage. Ranking up requires both getting better as a player and playing enough games.
Luck can also average out against you. It’s very possible to get a ton of games in a row where you teams just do nothing and you are now 200 SR back and its just a grind to get back. Its not fun to lose a large portion of games due to poor luck
So i kinda tested your statement months ago cause allot of people say this. On avg i would say yes maybe it evens out. But like i said i tested it by keeping track of win/loss and i would make a mark if i won or lost because of a leaver.
I remember there was a day when i lost 12 games because of a leaver and won 2.
So i would say this is an anomaly, but it happend. Stuff like this i consider bad bad luck. Cause i would 100% remember if i would win 12 games in 1 day cause of leavers.
Now this is only some thing i recorded for leavers win/loss. But i think if one would also record other things like playing vs smurfs/trolls etc etc. These are also things out of your control that you can have bad bad luck with.
Anyway… I think if you main 1 or 2 hero’s from every class, and always try hard and focus to improve eventually you can climb. But its slow and feels more like a grind then anything else.
Watch out for black cats crossing your path. Don’t play on Friday 13th. Don’t break mirrors.
Seriously though, there was a post on the old forums where a dude showed stats about his season games. Number of leavers/throwers and the like. It was pretty balanced across both teams. So, I think it’s up to you to improve your own skills, which also includes working better with whatever team you get.
For example, you might have to consider to fill for a tank/support role. And, yes, I guessed you were a DPS main before checking your profile…
(Disclaimer: I’m a bronzie, so don’t listen to me since you’re placed waaaaay higher than me.)
The problem is days like you described isn’t an anomoly to me. These type of days happen quite often and often goes around the other good games I may have. It doesn’t matter if I have a day where I climb 100 SR just to lose 300 the next 2 days because I haven’t got into a good match since I gained the 100 SR. Repeat this for step for the next 70 hours and it’s hard to get out of a rank which I have done 5 times this season before matchmaking decided that I must get trolled every single time until I have 300 SR and must grind back to diamond yet again for the same thing to happen and now I have no interest in playing the game anymore
I don’t have any friends and taking breaks have never helped. When I took a break my first game back was a guy who got mad at mercy for not pocketing him and then we went Hanzo and fed for the rest of the game because “our effin mercy doesnt know 2 heal”
edit: and no im not saying he’s throwing because he went hanzo, he was throwing because he kept jumping into their backlines to die on purpose
Lol. You are one of the few that sees that the game is sort of rigged. EA and others rig their games to get us to buy loot boxes. Blizz rigs it to get you addicted. It it depends on how much you play, how good you are, who you play etc… the matchmaker stacks the odds against you to a point to give you losses. The more you lose, the more every single win gives you a dopamine hit. Their goal is to keep you playing…just like a casino.
Look at it like this, we all could be exactly where we belong but the matchmaker will still manipulate us (via teammates and probaly minute networking changes) in order to make us believe we should be or can be higher rank than we are.
Think about it. If that was the case, then all of the matchmaker complaints would validate that the system is working and they would never need to address it…
