So it may seem this isn’t the place to post such a thing, and I know thisll make me look like a snitch…but I literally just met a player in game with over 500 hrs(they had a public career profile…) with the n word as their name, full and out there uncensored. They used a special character to make it work. Took a screenshot.
Unfortunately, Blizzard does absolutely nothing about console players. I’m 99 percent sure plenty of people would’ve reported them, it makes me highly uncomfortable that not only is the company allowing such things INSIDE, and not even taking that seriously. So, is there anywhere to create an actual ticket so an actual human will see the report for once…such little faith in this company anymore.
I believe there is an in-game report category specifically for “inappropriate battletag.”
Console
Open the Social menu.
Navigate to the Groups or Recent Players menu.
Select the player you want to report from the list.
Select Report.
Fill out the necessary information and submit the report.
Edit: On further inspection, it looks like the “inappropriate battletag” option might not be available on consoles. Hopefully that has changed now that Overwatch uses Battle.net accounts. If not, you’ll have to go through Customer Support.
Don’t hold your breath for a response. I’ve reported racists and such aplenty and pretty much never get a message saying action had been taken, despite them writing the most obnoxious stuff in chat.
I believe they are aware of that when the crossplay feature was first introduced (as all games now display the BattleTag instead of the console IGN, but I don’t know if they have yet fixed it.
For console players, if that option is not available, use the option Abusive Chat and type in “Inappropriate Username/BattleTag” in the details form instead.
Nobody reads the text until after a player is actioned and appeals. So you’re just getting someone suspended for abusive chat (which in this case would be appropriate). However, when their suspension is up, their name will remain the same.
