How do i climb?

I don’t know what to do anymore i am 43-51-3 on this account but then lost like 30 games was 2900 with an 80% winrate but now im just going to gold?

Do you keep playing while on a losing streak? Because that’s a hell of a drop.

Stop playing comp after 2 back to back losses.

could be just bad luck, ive had bad troubles with losing hundreds of SR just this week but I couldnt care less, im learning and it will eventually go back up. dont let SR cloud you from improving

Welcome to elo hell. Use bronzies will be seeing you soon…or stop playing when on losing streaks.

I honestly don’t understand how anyone could drop more than 200 Sr from their average rank without personally sabotaging themselves by trying to force a win while so obviously tilted, fatigued and stressed.

Because nobody wants to go out on a losing streak, so they tell themselves they’ll stop after the next win.

Same reason people don’t stop gambling when they’re down.

I hopped on to play a few games yesterday, lost all 3. 1 very close game, and then 2 games with ineffective attack bastions. Solo queue is rough. Stop playing when stuff like that happens.

Ok, it was a rhetorical question because I actually do already know the psychological reasoning lol. Just saying

Stop solo queing. 3 stacks made me climb easier.

bad luck with players preformance, picks, and leavers. it happens…
today alone I played 5 games

game 1: someone on the enemy team leaves 1-2 minutes into the game which prompt another to leave which is a long auto win for us

game 2: both teams did good, we did better so we won

game 3: someone with 34 hours on reaper didnt switch against a phara nor did he kill the enemy hog or orisa once the entire game

game 4: bastion with 54 hours refused to switch and had horrible positioning blaming his tanks non stop for not being able to shield him the entire time

game 5: tanks couldnt bother to shield, bragged about gold damage then disconnects early on

This is why OW needs an in-game LFG feature. I can really only meet up with my friends maybe 1 day a week, but if I want to hop on in between class/work just to play a couple games I’m stuck with solo queue.

Last game: Widow, McCree, Reaper, Tracer, Torbjorn on Lijiang tower.

I went with Moira and they went 1 by 1 to the point. The reaper opened up with shadowform into the middle of the CP alone lots of times, well, he then started panicking and strafing into a corner inside.

The widow didn’t kill anybody and was on the low ground, in the open, just looking inside and getting shot.

No one talked or wrote.

I think they were bots.

The AI sucks…

My winning streak is over :sob:

Problem with that is if you lose 2 games then stop playing, only to come back next day and lose 2 more games.

Until Blizzard actually fix the problems with Competitive - add backfill to overcome leaver problem (with no SR loss for backfillers on a loss), enforce team chat for all (with no option to leave) to overcome communication problems, harsher penalties for throwers, etc - then Competitive will continue to get worse and worse.

I agree, comp needs a lot of work because it definitely feels more punishing than gratifying to play. But as far as stopping after a couple losses, it helps, at least for me. Losing while chasing SR can make me really salty. Not the kind of salty where I act out like a jerk, I just get frustrated with the whole experience. At that point I’m no longer playing at my optimum level because I’m already looking at the match through the lens of the inevitable loss, even though the leaver/thrower/stompfest/trickle of death was last game. Stopping after a couple kicks to the groin keeps me in check. Plus, there’s the added benefit of avoiding queuing up with the bads again. All that could be avoided by queuing up with a 6 stack everytime, but I’m lucky if I can get 4 friends up queue up on a Saturday or Sunday.

PLEASE BLIZZARD, give us an in-game LFG feature!

They won’t fix comp. They only care about the OWL and maintaining that. No new people to come in and shake things up. They want the same people on top making them money and no changes. OW comp is doomed below GM. Blizzard just doesn’t care. They dump a lot of fan service to excuse and cove up their horrid competitive scene. Just get your golden guns. Once I stopped caring about ranking up, my tilt subsided. If they don’t care about comp, then why should I?

I seem to win alot more game by not using voice chat. Id probably end up quitting overwatch for good if it was enforced.

Good communication amongst the team is the key to winning consistently.

Just look at the Overwatch League.

The teams with poor communication are the ones at the bottom of the ladder (including the team I follow!).

I think this is a large part of the problem. People in lower ranks (like myself) who want to improve try to emulate the streamers and the OWL pros in our day to day games, but not everyone watches those streamers or OWL or cares about improving their metagame. They just want to pick widow and shoot some heads. Then us tryhards get tilted and start flaming the people who are just there for fun (or to troll the tryhards). We have to lower our expectations of our teammates. Not that they’re stupid or mean or anything (though some may be), they just have different motivations and perspectives from those of us who take the game a little more seriously.
