Hello, for the last 3 comp games I have been playing at 150 ms Ping. Now I play Doomfist, and Doomfist at even 80 ping is just like, no. Is there a way I can like, not get SA Serverss???
VPN I guess…
Have you tried blocking it with a firewall?
Also aren’t you Quaked’s mod?
Are you talking about South America servers?
The game client takes time to ping all datacenters located in the region you sign on to and find the fastest connection that is available. If you are being connected to one that is farther away geographically, that is a very likely sign that there is a direct connection problem between you and the closest geographically located server.
To troubleshoot this, you need to run a WinMTR test:
WinMTR instructions:
- Download WinMTR from Download WinMTR-v092.zip (WinMTR) (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
- Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
- Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
- Run the WinMTR.exe
- Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.
note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78 - Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
- Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
- Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between:
~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~
If in the event you can’t even connect to Overwatch and get into any game mode at all, please use one of the following IP addresses based on your geographical region:
- US West - 24.105.30.129
- US Central - 24.105.62.129
- Brazil - 54.207.107.12
- Europe Netherlands - 185.60.114.159
- Europe France - 185.60.112.157
- Korea - 211.234.110.1
- Taiwan - 203.66.81.98
- Australia - 37.244.42.56
A VPN is not likely going to work if there is a preexisting connection problem between them and the closest geographic server.
This won’t effectively work, each data center uses multiple IP addresses for their various servers.
Ah okay, I didn’t know that
THANK YOU
Why the hell do we need these sort of stuff… Where we could easily swap among regions…
You have necrobumped a 1-year-old topic and some information is no longer up to date. It is no longer possible to swap regions for the purposes of matchmaking (and in the case of South America that still did not matter as South Americas, Australia/Ocenia, and North America were all in the same region.) Regardless of where you are in the world, the game will try to connect you to the fastest possible connection which should be your closest datacenter. The instructions I provided are to troubleshoot any connection problems for when you are being connected to a more distance one due to a disrupted connection.
Please do not necrobump topics as this is against the Overwatch posting guidelines.
