How do I 1v1 as Tracer?

Specifically Tracer vs Tracer.
I’ve learned a couple of tricks but I just flare up and get so excited for some reason and just lose focus and I just can’t do anything against a Tracer that’s better than me. It’s one of the main reasons why I’ve stopped playing Tracer in 2700+ games because I can kill anyone I want on the enemy team but as soon as they get a semi-decent Tracer player I feel like I am useless.

Run around the map until someone falls off or a teammate comes to save you.

That’s what I did most of the time but I felt like I wasn’t contributing to the fight.

Tracer will usually not fight tracer so if the other player engages you he too is not contributing. Try and lead the fight to where your Tank is at to repel her.

In the end, don’t engage tracer if she does not fight you or unless she is really low on health. Focus on your key targets (healers)

You shouldn’t really be fighting another Tracer as Tracer though no?

Tracer is Tracer’s best counter besides Hanzo.

If you can’t win 1v1s with Tracers then just don’t take 1v1s with Tracers. It’s rarely the right move anways, instead focus on harassing their backline, making it impossible for them to heal effectively and kill them when possible, make sure you finish off targets your teammates got to low HP and help burn down the tanks when your team is focusing those. Leave the enemy tracer to characters on your team that are better suited for it.

Every hero, played by a better player is a ‘counter’ but honestly I play tracer quite a bit, as well as genji and I mostly try to avoid fighting tracer.

But your job as Tracer is to kill supports. If you think your job is to counter Tracer and other Tracers own you then not only are you losing the support battle but you’re dying to theirs who has free reign on your supports.

You counter Tracer by doing your job better than she can.

Fighting other Tracer as Tracer is a waste of time, usually the outcome is decided by whoever picks up more medkits in the process. Chasing down damaged Tracer with no Recall is a good idea, but meeting one and starting a fight is probably not smart.

Play around the outer area of the fights, and not in the middle of them. You basically have to think of Tracer as an assassin, focusing down weak targets.

Tracers just wave at each other as they go to kill each others supports, it’s an unwritten rule

Seriously though you get the healthpack first. If they are way better than you and you can’t even make them waste their time while you team wins the point. You need to play close to your team and get help like that.

The better Tracer won’t be able to get on your supports if your getting healed and they aren’t.

never be the first tracer to recall. its almost a 100% loss if you are the first

this happened to me once. my supports and the enemy supports were really pissed…

Don’t engage her until you see that she’s used her recall and try to engage with two blinks available

This is pretty great.

It pretty much pure out Aimming the other tracer.
Always keep in mind where she will be when she recalls.

Last know when it time to leave the duel because you will have more affect on the game getting an easy pick then wasting your time in a duel that is taking to long

As a tracer main, it’s important to keep yourself alive. You may have mobility, but not having an escape plan is 75% of how Tracers die.

Mapping is key
This may take time, but learning the ins and outs of every map is secretly crucial to playing a good Tracer. A lot of people just chalk it up to skill, but skill alone is not enough for a character with such low health. Try entering a skirmish in the custom game mode. You can tell the other players that you’re just trying to get familiar with the map, and hopefully some idiot doesn’t try to kill you anyway.
Mark the closest escape route in areas where combat gets heavy. This is mostly main road stuff, but both sides of every map has escape routes in case you encounter someone there. Know your exits when the going gets tough.

You may ask what this has to do with a 1v1 between two Tracers.
My favorite thing to do as Tracer is to get another tracer to follow me into a building. Right when I enter and turn the corner of that building, I quickly turn around and blink through the door I just came through. The majority of the time they would follow me into the building, or stand by the door and camp for a second. Blink past them, (they usually don’t see this) and one clip them from behind or from flank as soon as you exit.
As Tracer your best ability is outmaneuvering and deceiving your opponent, so knowing the layout of every map can give you an advantage, which is honestly what it all comes down to when playing as tracer- Advantage.

Don’t rely on speed alone
Doing so will get you too excited lol

Blink towards (Or even through) the enemy tracer while firing for extra chip damage.

Sounds crazy, but trust me. it actually works.

Also blink punches.
