How dangerous is a PSU failure?

So my PC just died (yipee) and the PSU I’d assume is at fault because the entire computer won’t function but the cord and electrical socket do, however. Now I’m a bit concerned considering how important it is, how dangerous is this?

Danger wise to your parts, a power supply going out can potentially destroy other parts. Not always, it depends on what went out with the power supply but it can happen. Cheap low quality power supplies are more likely to cause damage to parts than a better quality power supply. Better quality power supplies have protections in place that can potentially avoid damage in the event of a power supply dying.

As far as danger to a person goes its harmless as long as you unplug it before handling it. If you suspect your power supply is dying / dead I would not try to keep using it. Unplug it and get a new power supply if you believe that’s what the issue is from

Just don’t be stupid and open the PSU, that’s a death wish.

Just dont open it up. Unplug it to protect the other components.

Could be a board failure but you want to test everything with another PSU first.
