Can someone tell me how the hell this competitive percentage is calculated?
I won a match, my progress to the next rank increased by 20%;
I lost a match, my progress decreased by 24%;
Then I won another match, my progress increased by 20%;
I lost another match again, my progress decreased by 25%;
In the end, if you sum it up, I had -9% progress from my current rank. Does this game force you to lose more progress than to gain it? How is this calculated?
Yesterday I played against a team that worked really hard, and we managed to win. It was an incredibly close match. Then I got to the final screens and received “WAS EXPECTED” comp progress debuf. I gained less progress because the game THINKS it was easy to win that match?
Who decides this now? Is there some AI that reads the match data in real time?
I’ve been trying to get out of Silver 1 since the beginning of the season, and so far I’ve always been in this infinite loop. When I reach 99% to go up to Gold 5, the matchmaking magically starts pushing horrible teams of bots that keep leaving the match or becoming afk/trolling.
And then people say that this matchmaking isn’t rigged… What do I need to do to get a decent rank? Create an account from scratch? Will I get a competitive rank booster?
Progress debuffs work according to player’s winrates. If the other team’s winrate is lower than yours, you are expected to win. Hovewer, winrate tells nothing about the skill and game ignores players’ performance. For example, one player for several games has been on Widow and then switched to their main Sojourn, now he’s overperforming and you struggle to win. But winrate didn’t change and game thinks you got this win for free
A thing to realize is that comp% is based upon the number of players in a rank as well. You’ll generally move more in percentage near the middle (gold) than the ends (bronze / GM)
Same here. I play as Gold with my 2 Bronze/silver friends, the tank player is the lower rank, got a game against Platinum Tank/Supor who just destroyed us and stoled 25%. Than next game we won cca evenly fair match or slightly unfavored and got 20%
Its impossible, i already do a good job keeping my teammates alive as support. Nothing else i can do. Untill this game start counting individual progress too and not only win or loss.
I’m up avg between 10k~16k healing, and saving my teammates all the time (even the tanks that LOVE rushing and die alone).
Matchmaking systems can’t understand context well. If you get a group of players that are “better” than your team slightly, but all of their heroes play terribly on the map while you have good heroes for the map you will prob stomp them.
