How common are 1 vs 1's in overwatch or overwatch 2?

might be a bit more difficult to answer it for overwatch 2 because all we have gotten is 2 beta’s but i am curious what people expect, i am a roadhog main so i usually go for 1 vs 1’s and in the chaos of a fight i can occasionally force one or if a member of the enemy team is on their own i’ll usually push that but i dont find them all that common

not sure if overwatch 2 1 vs 1’s will be more or less likely

If you’re in a fair 1v1 in OW, you didn’t plan things out correctly

Not very. If a 1v1 occurs, it’s typically because mistakes were made. At the pro level, it almost never happens.

1v1 are ridiculously common in OW1 or OW2 in solo play as a support. Teammates rarely peel or support you, so you have to fend for yourself quite a bit.

It’s much less common if you play with a group or get people on comms. In fact, playing bait as an out of position support to draw in a flanker and have the team collapse on them works well.

its interesting to read differing viewpoints i guess it depends on who you are playing, recently i had on the first point of kings row was a zen being on the opposite side of his team, rushed in and killed him…i died because of it but spawn wise it was still a win, not sure if i was baited

Solo support experience is in ow 2 is more or less 1v1 every fight or so. ( at least that was mine)

i do wonder if that will be different once overwatch 2 is a more competitive setting, as junker queen 1 vs 1’s were not that common at least for me

Zenyatta isn’t usually great bait, as he lacks self sustain and mobility. The bait play requires the support survive for a few seconds or evac when pressured. Moira, Brigitte, and Baptiste work well.

Lucio works as well, but the process is different. You do a drive by on the enemy team and get some to chase, ultimately leading them into an ambush. Works great after a fight, leading overzealous enemies right into your respawns.

oh that makes sense i guess in this case it was just poor positioning by zen and less a bait(i do play in silver and dont get me wrong there are some smart players in there but i can imagine a bait like that would be far more common in higher ranks)
