How Can You Tell

How can you usually tell when someone is a good/experienced player on certain heroes?

  1. Genji: Ghost dashes, knowledge on combos (like m2+melee,dash+m2+melee), mid air Dragonblade kills.
  2. Doomfist: Insane rollouts, mid air kills.
  3. Widowmaker: Trickshot (grapple hook) kills.
  4. Tracer: One clips
  5. Mei: Key walls
  6. Ana: Insane sleeps, key nades and great APM (actions/minute)
  7. Zen: Highly reactive, dink dinks + discord
  8. Mccree: Uses high noon to quickly reload.
  9. Rein: Shatter baits and reactive to enemies’ shatters.
  10. Mercy: Cycles between damage and heal boost on her own, super jump.
  11. Symmetra: Amazing taxi TP
  12. Lucio: 90% of the time never touches the ground

What else?

When they don’t int my games, that’s good enough for me

how do you have great apm on such a long cooldown character

do you mean ML7 shaking and pretty much over moving his mouse when healing

like healing someone once then moving to a different target for no reason at all

I find the boops and amp usage to be key

a good lucio will play similar to ball and use boop to set his team up

and you will always be faster when your kiting against key ults

wall is really important

a good sym wall pretty much wins a fight on its own

Brig: uses bash as a mobility option, never lets barrier break and never dies

Junkrat: is constantly in the kill feed, and not on the receiving end. Enemy team will almost never see him, changes his position to play mind games

Bastion: goes back to spawn, presses H, and picks a better character

I didn’t want to say it, but someone has to

Sad beep boop noises

when they punish my plays, which means i have to play tighter.

is this not the bare minimum of mercy play?
are we really handing out rewards for holding either mouse 1 or mouse 2?
i would consider surviving in the middle of team fights a good mercy.

You forgot

“manages to get any value out of the hero somehow”

I second this.

Bonus points if everyone eventually dies due to your healing being out-damaged, and you still manage to escape lol. Also using superjump and actually taking advantage of your teammates’ (alive and dead) positions to get yourself in a better spot even if they aren’t the one your beam is on. Usually Mercys who just follow whoever their beam is on aren’t that good and die often.

yeah though i cant do it personally i do watch a lot of mercy main streams.
just something therapeutic about it for me dodging all sorts of ults and tunnel visioning dps.

Rein: Shatters proactively or even goes for solo shatter rather than hold it for a minute to try and get a 6k shatter. I picture shatter as holding your breath underwater. The longer you hold it, the more miserable you get

I’ll admit, I’m pretty good at that (although not so much anymore thanks to my abominable internet) and it’s so satisfying.

Torb: turret placements as well as coom placements

If the tank walks forward or the healers notice they have dps and support teammates, I consider them to be gaming gods.

This seems cool though genji ghost dashes kinda useless Ball is included here and I would say doesn’t stop moving and knows when to transform modes.

Winston: Butt jumping

Yes… you use jump pack but reverse yourself in the air so your big head hitbox isn’t showing.

On top of zap, melee, directly landing-max damage.

This actually sounds like a good tip for a DPS main flexing onto Rein lately (read: me). Thank you.
