I’m in Silver right now and this hero is single handedly tilting me everytime I play against it. My team gets wiped by him almost every time and his M1 spam on choke points feels straight up retarded. I switch to Baptiste everytime I have to face one, just to cancel his ultimate, since my team mates aren’t able to aim for his thing. I also ask for a DPS to use Pharah to counter him, but people on Silver doesn’t seem to know how to deal with him either. He keeps spamming M1.
So, what else can I do to help my team win? I try to coordenate, ask for specific counters, ask to aim for his ult thing and none of these seem to work. If I try to focus on trying to damage him, the team lacks healing too.
How am I supposed to deal with this abomination as a support? This character is sucking away the fun from the game for me. I wish I could ban him.
Also, it is so annoying and tilting to watch his kill cam. I feel like I’m losing to a braindead person
Realistically, if your entire team is feeding into him that hard then there isn’t all that much you can do alone.
Your best bet would probably indeed be Baptiste or trying Ana or Zen and in all three cases, going extra aggressive to try and carry. If you can, getting your co-support on Mercy would probably be ideal.
If you can get your off-tank to counter, then D.Va, while much harder these days, does a lot to nullify Junk and a Zarya is going to be perma fed against him.
I tried this strat some times, but it isn’t optimal at all. Moira deals almost zero damage and for her to be able to duel him, the Junk player has to be blind or something. Most times he rushes through me and kills me in less than a second with his bomb combo.
Even if I manage to kill him (which would cost my Fade to dodge some of his skills), I would be killed right after by his team mates and he gets a free ress anyway…
She can kill him in 2 seconds, granted Junkrat can kill Moira faster, but… judging by your statement
It seems one problem you’re doing with this strategy is you’re getting too close to the junkrat when you go to kill him, you have 20 meters to work with, this gives you time to dodge his attacks and makes his bomb mine combo massively less effective
If he has a mercy that rezzes that’s fine, that’s a resource that’s down in the form of losing rez it wont be back by the time you go to kill him again, and in the time he’s dead and his allies are looking at you, your allies can be rush into them and now there’s a pincer, your best goal would be to find a route either avoiding the enemy team or just rushing through them with fade assuming you didn’t have to use it in the duel against junk
Junkrat is definitely a frustrating hero to play against in low elo.
As a support, just remember that if your team is not doing the job, you can. Junkrat is weak to hitscan, so baptiste can easily duel him. Lucio is also good at diving him.
Just remember that if your team is feeding to him, you won’t be able to heal much, and you’ll often have to duel him yourself.
Um… I guess I’ll try that, because this is really getting annoying to me… The problem by doing this is that my team mates also flags me as a “DPS Moira just report”…
Don’t play near your team, in those elos bad junkrats will get value like the kind that jumps often in the open, bap is extremely good at punishing this also his imf is great counter to tire.
I guess there’s no much I can do then, other than trying to improve my aim huh…
Bastion used to piss me off too, until I discovered how to counter him by using Zeny, and this was how this game felt like hella fun to me, because I came from Paladins and supports doesn’t really have a way to impact on a game like I felt with Zen vs. Bastion whose wrecking my team. But now I’m facing this stupid Junkrat “barrier” and man, this one feels huge. I searched and found Baptiste as a great option because of his Lamp, but it is not enough. I played a game where I cancelled about 5 of Junk’s ult attempts, but even so, my team ended up stomped by his M1 spam. It also feels frustrating because out of 5 games I play per night, all 5 has a Junkrat on it, so… yeah, this guy is making me sad
As a masters paladins player I heavily disagree with that, but point is yes. If you practice your aim with bap, you will find junk much easier to deal with. Bap can deny junk ults with IF, has great healing, and his ability to quickly access and hold high ground and having a hitscan weapon makes him a nightmare for a mediocre junk player.
Because Junkrat is the type of hero who preys on unorganized comps, he’s a low rank stomper. If you learn to counter him in support, your games will go a lot better. Just keep practicing.
In this case, even when it feels counter-intuitive, go for offense healer, as a dead junkrat can’t do those dmg to you nonetheless. And since it’s usually defense side junkrat is on, getting 1 win out of fights sometimes is enough.
I see… I guess I’ll ignore my team flaming me as a DPS sup and try to carry myself out of here. Thanks for all the responses guys. This topic was more of a vent than a “help” post, to be honest… just came out from a 4 lose streak against Junkrat
But… yeah, thanks for all the responses. I’ll try to cool my head and try to deal with this
You can’t really deal with Junk spam as a support. In high ranks we can avoid mindless spam even without counters so it’s not an issue but I remember how tilting it was when I was low. omg thank god I don’t have to deal with him anymore.
It’s doable but risky as hell. Generally you’d want to wallride out of his range and pepper him with bullets and only get close for the killing blow, but that can take too long if he’s getting healed. And if you try and get in close for a quicker, more reliable kill you run the risk of being one tapped by his combo.
Personally I’d dive a Mccree before I dove a Junkrat with Lucio.
I see a lot of people saying “remember we’re talking about Silver Junkrats” and such, like the person playing isn’t able to land shots. I can assure you most of Junkrats I face are pretty good doing so, specially when they’re near you. I know how to strafe and for my level of play, I’m actually happy with how I manage to avoid some shots. Shots are easy to land when in close combat, specially when they’re AoE…
