I really don’t need to see all this toxic, sexist, racist crap scrolling down my screen while I’m trying to enjoy a game. Can anyone tell me where the option to disable the text chat is on PS4?

The tab right before social, scroll down and you’ll find crossplay communication I think.

I’ve heard if you open keyboard you can type /hidechat and it does the trick.

That is the text command to stop showing the chat (until it is reopened) on the PC platform, I have not confirmed whether it works on console yet or not.
Can confirm it worked for me. It also unfortunately hides the text from doing things like “ultimate status” and “hello” etc.

Unfortunately it seems like there’s no way to permanently disable it. Only way is pressing start and looking at your current team and unchecking the text chat bubble icon. This has to be done every game……

I don’t like the thought of permanently disabling chat because then you can’t report players.
Found it.
Once you’re in a game go to social. In Groups there are two little speech icons next to each team. Mute each, and it seems to persist after that game so I think that’s it.
Eugh. 30 minutes of a smidgen of what PC players put up with was frickin’ TRAUMATIC.
