How bundles are prorated against previous purchases is bad

Take the current Cowboy Bebop collab with its large bundle costing 5600 OW Coins, individual bundles going for 2500 Coins and individual skins being purchasable from the Hero Gallery for a paltry sum of 1900 Coins. Suppose that a player buys the Faye Valentine individual bundle for 2500 Coins and later changes his mind and comes back meaning to buy the whole thing. He opens the shop and sees the large bundle now priced at 4115 Coins, which if he were to proceed would now cost a total of 6615 Coins. Now, there’s a chance that the player in question says, “the fig with it” and buys it anyways. In such a case Blizzard comes out ahead, but how likely is this scenario? Having initially chosen to forgo purchasing the whole thing, the player, now seeing the increased total price, would more likely be reinforced in his initial decision of skipping on buying the large bundle. If, however, the price of the previous purchase was to be straight up subtracted from the price of the bundle, thus keeping the total eventual sum spent as equal to the original price, then the player would be psychologically reinforced in his impulse to go ahead with the purchase, or at the very least not discouraged to go through with it.

think of it like this

skin bundle cost 2500 for a single or 5600 for all four

if a person wants two of them they’ll look at the 5000 price tag and say “meh might as well get the big bundle”

i didnt technically want the mauga skin but i did want sombra, cass and ashe so instead of buying each individually i bought the mega bundle

you are thus punished for being indecisive at the moment of purchase

meaning in the future you wont second guess yourself and you’ll likely buy the mega bundle

How would that work considering the price of all 4 individual bundles is greater than the price of the mega bundle?

Also just noticed something interesting: These bundles don’t have their discounts displayed. I wonder if that was somehow part of the terms for the collab?

That is the whole point. You get discount based on how big the bundle you buy is.

With that said paying for any bundles in this game is a scam. It is made to make you spend extra for stuff you don’t really want by making it look cheaper.

Yes, it definitely does have this particular psychological effect to it.
