How basically every Sombra balance discussion goes

OP: Sombra is so strong, she just pops out of nowhere locks my abilities, then burst damage me down.

Me: That sounds like you don’t know how to play around her.

OP: I know how to play around her, she isn’t an issue to me! (Yes this really is their response like a third the time)

Me: Do you attempt to turn around and attack the sombra or use abilities / moblity before hack finishes.

OP: no their is no time to react!

Me: You have .65 seconds to at least hit a button, average human reaction time is .25 seconds.

OP: But I can’t tell if their hacking me till it happens!

Me: Hack has both a big visual que, and sound effect as it’s being applied.

OP: I can’t hear it and distracted to see the effect!

Me: Do you use headphones? OP: no. Me: Do have the right Audio mix setting for your device? OP: No.

Me: Then do you at least attempt to counter pick here with heroes like Brig/Mei/torb/Sym/Moria/Soldier and more that will generally live through getting hacked and have cooldowns and offensive tools to fight back while hacked?

OP: NO! As she doesn’t always start with hack and just does damage.

Me: Ok? In that case do attempt to make space or use knock back tools, so she can’t do effective damage with her short range spread weapon.

OP: No. But it’s my supports that get attacked by her, I’m not the issue.

Me: in that case do attempt to peel for them or set up defensive tools like turrets or bubbles for them?

OP:… Your just a sombra main that’s mad the devs are nerfing her!

Me: 9/10 out of ten it’s going to be a power shift that will push the power in some other aspect of stealth and or the rest of her kit.

Not always in that order but that’s how like seven different discussions I had on the topic went.

Here you go guys their just proving my point lol.

no one say that sombra is op… we say that she is a maasive opressive hero where everything is about hardcounter x enemy picks. justa a trash hero design. she need rework.

Complaining is quick and easy, while self reflection and personal improvement is difficult and takes time.

Why bother going through the time consuming chore of improving when Blizzard has shown repeatedly they will nerf underperforming heroes if people whine loudly enough?

Wanna bet an account deletion? I’m willing to put my only and day 1 account with nearly every cosmetic on the line. I bet I can find a dozen posts from the last week alone calling her OP.

Who does Sombra hard counter? Outside of Widow and Zen, she’s a soft-neutral matchup against the rest of the cast at best. I’m literally a Sombra/Ball main, and I LOVE people swapping to Sombra while on Ball, because she is SO squishy and easy to kill, and it’s less chance the enemy has a Junk, Cass, Reaper, Mei, ect who actually make my job harder.

I mean, half a second to react to someone that might pop up behind, above you or both isn’t exactly a lot tbf.

I mean literally anyone with cooldown that moves, set up healing over time, give bonus health, acts independently from the hero. Or just stands next to a LOS break.

Can get around a sombra.

I will say a handfull of tanks should have slightly better interactions.

but like you don’t need to hard counter her to stop or get away from her setup.

Oh it is quite a bit of time, like video games in general have really tight windows to react to things with. Tf2 demoKnight for example has only .30 to follow up on shield bash if they want their crit melee attack to follow through on the kill.

And with that games melee detection, and just generally the fact people tend to be very mobile. You really can’t predict when the bash will connect till it does.

Let alone attack dodge parry windows, on things that can just be thrown out in like .14 of second. In darksouls or Bayo/DMC games.

On another note. All flankers or heroes that can fly, can just pop out from around a corner/wall to do just do damage in a lot of cases.

Can’t tell you how pharha ults / echo burst combo’s I get off from just hopping over a wall.

Let alone Mei ults for just walking around the flank and tossing it slightly behind them.

:joy: that’s hysterical. You see that magnifying glas icon at the top of the forum. Search “sombra op” and then come back to this thread and say “Kay yeah a lot of people say it”

I didn’t realize Sombra’s hack auto killed enemies.

But the demo charge is something that you can get a feel for because its consistent.

Sombra is being controlled by another person and isn’t always going to show up in 1 spot every single time. You have to perceive the sombra, then physically react to what ever unique position she might be in.

I stopped reading at the strawman near the beginning; however, since I read that far, I might as well address it. I genuinely do not struggle against Sombra which is why I stopped complaining about her once her pickrate dropped. It truly was annoying playing against her every single game. That just happens sometimes. It’s kind of like Rammatra. I do not care about him at all when I off role or play a real tank. The reason I am constantly whining is because I have to play against him in 9 out of 10 of my games. Albeit, I will admit that perhaps I do not understand how to play against him. I find that running away to FORCE your DPS to pressure him is generally the key to success.

Dude we all share the same 6 brain cells. Sombra is behind your backline on highground.

I don’t think sombra is overpowered, the hero just has an entirely anti fun unengaging kit down to it’s core design.

But can we please stop acting dense in believing hack out of invis is reactable. It isn’t.

Average human reaction time is .25 seconds which is further increased when distracted (a.k.a doing anything else mid game like healing other targets / shooting other targets). You are NOT pinpointing and landing a shot on the sombra in .4 - .3 seconds, unless she is just doing it in your face. That is not even remotely believable.

The only person that can do something of the sort is rein who can just flash his shield in a circle but that doesn’t put hack on a cooldown. Anyone who says they consistently cancel hack if at all in said .4 - .3 seconds, is a liar. I’m willing to bet if they went into a custom game and a sombra tried hacking them, the sombra would get hack off 9/10 times. And that’s WITHOUT distractions.

it’s not, it’s not remotely. Like I said melee hit detection is pretty out of wack. Do it having 2007 multiplayer netcode, and really wonky hitboxes.

Even then, sombra is giving over twice that time frame. Just to stop the hack, let alone just do damage to her while setting up her dot and doing damage over time herself.

And your enemy your charging isn’t standing still, and can move in all sorts of ways to mess with your collision timing.

Is your enemy also invisible and free to engage from virtually every angle, forcing you to defensively react in every encounter?

I mean most heroes have spread/damage over time/aoe damage somewhere in your kit.

And people already doign 180’s to attack tracers blinking behind them at any point.

this isn’t soley a sombra thing. Nor something that people have trouble doing considering that you don’t have to be remotely accurate in a lot of case. Let alone tools like brigs shield that just needs to be facing the right direction. Or abilities that will get you away from her scott free or set up healing/bonus health and or damage against that won’t go away when hacked.

I mean yes the TF2 spy is a thing, that forces you to do that in any fight he exists in. And can also 1 shot you if he catches you out.

Most of those take time to put out, time you do not have when you have only .4 seconds - .3 seconds to cancel the hack.

Tracer isn’t invisible. Tracer can be heard BEFORE she engages. Tracer can be seen BEFORE she engages.

They are not the same.

I’ve had hack canceled dozens of times(it would likely be much higher, but I rarely ever hack), but I agree it is more difficult to pop then OW1. Fortunately a 1s silence is incidental unless you are wildly out of position, and anyone on your team can break it, not just the hack target.

.65s to react is way more realistic than the every hitscan weapon in the game. Which is 0.0s

Ya that’s still lot of time my guy. Go play a character action game or a fighting game and look at the enemy/character frame data

that is more then reasonable for you to play around.

Especially when a lot of heroes just win the match-up by pressing a button like soldiers healing pod, or torbs bonus health/damage ability.

So does sombra, she does have foot steps, that do make sounds. And gives you heck sound and visual que while hacking. And or just leaving stealth.

In other news walls and flanks exists. She can just pop around a corner you were not looking at do to you pushing main. And immediately start doing damage with no warning.

like this isn’t a new concept.

Look guys he back at it again, and now racist. How lovely!

Imagine being so spineless you’re racist only on Sundays.
