you guys are super quiet about your hero on here, how do you feel about WB now in terms of getting value? I feel really really worthless with him and am close to dropping him, idk if anyone’s in a similar boat to me but I just want guidance and help if this isn’t normal.

Hard to get anything done when Brig/Cass/Hog/Zen combinations exist every match.

Ball is unfortunately a sacrificial lamb for high ranks, where he is fabulous. He’s not “terrible,” but he feels a lot worse than he did before the VERY long stream of nerfs.
People seem to think he doesn’t rely on teammates, but in my experience, he’s one of the most team-reliant tanks because a lot of the value he gives requires your teammates to be in sync AND to not die when you’re not holding up a giant rectangle in front of them.
It doesn’t help that the meta right now (at least in the metal ranks) is super bloated with CC. Most every game, there’s an Ana/McCree/Hog on the enemy team, and even Junk is pretty popular (traps on flank routes can really ruin Ball’s day). It’s also a bit obnoxious how often I have to switch off because Ball is flat-out useless if the enemy team has an even semi-competant Sombra, and if I pop off too much, people will switch to her and there’s not much I can do other than switch out.
He also needs crazy good mechanics and is more aim-intensive than a lot of the tank line up, which means a lot of people suck on him, so playing him is basically agreeing to get yelled at all game long and blamed for any losses you might incur.
Personally, I still play him, but he doesn’t feel as engaging as he used to. Losing the ability to displace people effectively really makes his gameplay feel a lot less nuanced, and I’m hoping that in OW2, they give him back his displacement.
My win rate on Ball is still higher than any other tank, but I’ve played more Ball than I have the entire rest of the cast combined, so that’s not much of a surprise.
Still a broken hero, the nerfs didn’t really do that much, most people heavily exaggerate their effect.

For the record, even if they had hog orisa cass sombra brig and zen…. Does not mean you are countered.
You are countered when the enemy team doesn’t let you get work done.
I’m fine (500+ hrs), but the changes are annoying. Especially since we still have a grapple delay on spawn.
The changes were not well thought out. The fact that there is no HuD timer shows what a rush job this was to fix a negligent “problem”.
It was a change to make a change serving as a distraction from the lack of OW2 news and the horrible misogynistic climate and lawsuits at Blizz-Activision.
Because we don’t like to draw attention to ourselves.
The hamster meta is eternal, we just thin out the weak and nibble on their remains to grow stronger.
His only been hurt in the respawn time (for being one of the best stall tanks) and ‘spin to win’ aspect otherwise most of his roll outs are intact and his damage is still good. It’s just CC and high burst damage melts him down unless his got follow up or an escape plan.
Yeah it’s weird why there isn’t a hud feature to say when your grapple hook will detach. Seems like a weird oversight for a nerf they knew that would be in place.
He feels bad to play but is still a menace to high ranks. They failed to fix the hero on both regards.
Is it that bad? You will die if you dive right into it ofc but at the same time that combo doesn’t really have that much reach or movement (compared to meryc+soldier, ashe, widow etc) so you don’t really need to proactively dive them either. As long as you zone them out and don’t let them get close they won’t be able to dps down your squishies faster then your support can heal and if they blow all their CD’s on you when your team is close they usually get punished for it.
Tbf, i wasnt particularly talking about just this comp, although it would still be hell to play against it, it was mostly “Someone on the enemy team switches to any of these heroes”.
Of course you can still play around the counters but its just that those heroes in particular shut down Ball easily making it kinda of hard to enjoy playing him.
Too busy DOMINATING with my superior mobility and strategy to worry.
Brigs/Crees/Hogs/Anas are annoying, of course, but I’d literally be unstoppable if they didn’t exist.
WJ just nailed it, as for me only criticism is the gun sounds & handling are annoying. still mad love for the slams
I quit playing him after they nerfed his fun instead of nerfing his viability. What a buncha jokahs!
Brig+Any other CC makes him unplayable.
Like his only purpose is to dive and disrupt squishies. It’s literally impossible when SHE exists.
Much how Winston is nearly impossible to play due to both her or Hog being present in match.
Too much gatekeeping still happening within the hero roster.
