How are you liking Overwatch at this point?

My feelings can be summed up as such: when it works, its fun. When it doesn’t, its frustrating. In other words, I’m fine with the game even if I’m still annoyed at how everything turned out.

With that said, I see opinions softening on Overwatch “”“2"”", and that should be expected when you consider so many of us still willingly queue for the game. You can’t tell me you hate it if you play it more than like once a month.

What about you? How do you feel about the game in the year of our lord 2022 + 2?

I’m ok unless it is just stomp after stomp games, which are unfortunately most games. I can probably handle a couple and then it just gets to a “what is the point of this game?” That or the games I just get hard focused as support and can’t even play the game lol

Stomping games, if we all know what we were doing but still getting stomped, its still fun because you get to play with really good players and learn from them.

But the thing is its really rare. Usually stomps occur because the losing side lacks skills, which is frustrating. I blame the match making system on this.

Other than that I don’t think the game is THAT miserable rn, imo.

I have loved ow since 2016 and I’ll always stand by it as one of my favorite games (no other game has come close to my ow hours) but I do find that I play this game more out of habit and familiarity at this point than I do for fun. I will still play a bit of arcade here and there when I get the itch, but lately I’ve been really enjoying deadlock which surprised me, I wasn’t expecting to get that into it but I’ve been playing it every evening lately instead of overwatch.

It’s alright. I still enjoy it, overall. I recognize there are some oppressive things to deal with but I don’t mind dealing with them as best I can.

Right now, in the era of raid boss tanks and this mobility meta, I haven’t been enjoying the game.

In comp, my matches have felt extremely one-sided. One game my team stomps, next game it’s my team that’s getting stomped. It feels like I’m not getting enough matches that feel genuinely close.

Also, i’ve noticed myself swapping to counter a lot more this season, which has been exhausting. I know people will say “that’s just OW, people have always had to swap to counter”. I felt that way once too. But for the first time basically ever, this rock-paper-scissors gameplay has really started to drain me. I want to play the characters I like, not whatever broken, flavor of the month champ people are spamming.

TL;DR - I haven’t been enjoying it, so I think I’ll just sit this season out.

Meta tanks make the game feel suffocating. I genuinely quite enjoy the game otherwise, but when a tank or two are the clear meta, it feels like the game revolves around them. D.Va is agonizing.

Also, please hire people to work on the Workshop. As far as I know, a few of the dedicated Workshop employees are gone, and the issues with it are piling up. It’s a very fun concept that has become bones in the closet.

the game just needs to shutdown the devs and balance teams are as dumb as the director is they clearly dont knwo wtf they are doing most of the time

Honestly? Not even having fun. I’m abusing the broken tanks and watching people rage or get salty in chat doesn’t make me feel good

Queuing the other roles feels suffocating unless the enemy is playing like Junker Queen or Hog or something lmao

This latest patch is horrifyingly bad. Sombra suddenly is ruining the game for me even more than Brig did–or whatever; you know, when all that bad stuff starting happening back in Overwatch 1–when the game started getting ruined. Like, this Sombra is literally worse for me than all of that.

But I’m confident. It’s so bad, they will have NO CHOICE but to fix it.

Otherwise, I have an issue with this game not being 6v6 still. And I think a lot of the fun and soul has been sucked out of it, BUT… Overall, the team has actually managed to finally address the idea of instability in matches and made the game MUCH more stable with all their changes. (Auto self-heal over time decoupling the extreme co-dependence on healers is an example of such a stabilizing change to the game. There are others.) I have to commend them on that.

TLDR: Game has lost so much soul. However, it has gained match-stability. This latest patch (Sombra-watch) is absolutely horrifying and the worst of all time, but will surely be corrected soon enough and then the game will be a very stabilized, but increasingly soul-less, husk of pre-brig Overwatch 1.

Just my two cents.

Been playing since the Overwatch 1 beta and I still think it’s fun!

Not very impressed with a few of the recent balance changes though. The armor buffs were way too much and have made some tanks stupid strong. Sombra’s changes were horrible paired with the latest HP nerfs. Really made her go from “annoying but manageable” to outright toxic hero design. I don’t think Moira, the safe survivability pick for supports, should have gotten a survivability nerf in exchange for more “auto-aim” left-click damage.

But yeah, I’m still having fun most of the time and I actually don’t think the game will be too far off from balanced once they tone down some of the current top performers. I also hopped into comp for the first time in like 4 years and got Diamond just from my placements. Pretty happy with that! I never really grinded ranked but got Masters the last season I played years ago purely out of spite when the game dropped me from Diamond to Gold just from placements. Maybe I’ll shoot for Masters or even GM this time. I’m still a big Overwatch nerd.

I second this line specifically.

But honestly, ever since they’ve announced 6v6 my hope for OW has returned. It won’t fix everything, but hell it is an extremely important step and they are finally taking it.

Definitely agreed with the current state of the Season: its great when teams are evenly matched, but when its a stomp, it is very frustrating. Its like Polar opposite matches (i see u Mei!). There seems to be no avoiding this situation.

I still enjoy it when playing with friends.
Reverting S9 HP and projectile changes would make it better.

Stomps one way or the other don’t feel fun.

The added avoid slots are great, but should’ve been in the game when they went free to play. I even said that years ago lol.

Venture and Juno have no legendary or even epic skins, so rip. You’ll get 1 in Season 14 Venture while Kiriko gets 3 by then…

Balance is very see-sawish these last few seasons with a lot of problems ignored, newly created or over corrected.

Clash is horrid to play and I’ve won all my games on the Anubis map. It needed more time to cook in the oven.

6v6 coming back even temporarily is a good step though.

Beyond epic trash. This game for me is dead. Glad I can play other games on PS5 and Switch, so much better games there like Astro Bot, Zelda and many more

To me it is not fun to see a good game go to waste.

Overwatch 1 was and always is one of the best games of all time in 2017.

Overwatch 2, today is really obvious a half-cooked idea that they released and it is very apparent this was out of spite for all the people that demanded “2” be released.

I think when we had that 2019 protest against Overwatch being released or nobody comes back thing. Is actually what lead to them on purpose releasing a half-cooked game.

We cannot forget how many times they came out though and said “coming soon” and then they would tease about it, stir up the players and go with the whole notion that something “amazing” is coming out.

It wasn’t until they just said “okay, here you go” and its a juke of a game that is so terrible and repulsive that there would be a small group of players that clearly weren’t Overwatch players. So happy that it came out, and felt it was for “them”, but not the “Overwatch player”.

That said. I wish they would do something about this. But I am doubtful.

it’s ok. or rather, it’s a game that behaves very well as “PVP”, and it’s useless to refuse this for the usual complaints:

  • does it always have new heroes? yes;
  • does it always have new maps? yes;
  • does it do more testing from the beginning of 2024? yes;
  • does it have bug fixes when they are needed? certainly much better than how it behaved at the debut, so yes;

its flaw is in the long-term investment (lore, marketing, events) but it has all the merits, defects and unforeseen events of any other live service as it is constantly updated.

I am quite happy with the game. Sure, we dont have much content, but the game feels pretty good so far. The only thing I cant ignore is the toxicity I encounter in the game. People throw the N word around suddenly and make sexual comments in public chat. Kind of strange, but besides report and move one, there is not much to do.

Juno, while pretty weak, is very enjoyable to play and I somehow manage to have a 65% winrate with her as my most played hero this comp season. It has been a long time that I was exited to play OW and Juno was just what I wanted. Its mainly the pure feeling of her abilities as well as the none-gimmicky weapon she has. It has ok damage and solid healing as hitscan and thats good enough for me.

Cant really cry about balance that much, because like last season, I still have to see a hero that is completly broken and dominates the game like in many seasons before. Sure, Sombra sucks, but besides her, I think the game is in a good state.
