What part of what I said is an excuse?? Did you expect some kinda perfectly polished game knowing it’s early access? Now that’s comical

That’s a new level of doomer ignorance

Did you read my post to the end?! I did say it was tongue in cheek!

The unresolved problem is that after the Kiriko hype wears off, you aren’t going to have anywhere near equal queue times between Support and DPS.

Kinda like if they added a new Tank hero in OW1. Queue times would get pretty good for a few weeks. But after a while they would go back to “normal”. Because they needed a fundamental restructure to Tank’s overall playstyle.

Not to many people expected a polished product. Remember, in the wake of Blizzard’s mass sexual harassment lawsuit, any good employee with a shred of human dignity departed. What’s left of the workforce is those who are okay with Blizzard being at the prosecution-end of a very very ugly lawsuit with huge moral implications - so… maybe not the best people.

And that’s why the launch was such a disaster with queues, bugs, log-in errors and rounds and rounds maintenance.

If yall didn’t expect a polished game then whats with the shock/confusion as to why things aren’t perfect yet 2 weeks after launch? this was pretty expected from me at least

The core issue is that supports just aren’t fun to play against flankerwatch and nanobladewatch every fight

How do you combat the game’s smallest fastest heroes? with CC

Again, I wasn’t confused or shocked and alot of other people weren’t.

I know you are smart enough to not expect it to go well. How can it go well when the developers and IT infrastructure support people are just terrible?

After all, like I said, the decent competent people left Blizzard so we are currently using a product made by people who are fine with working in an environment with a massive sexual harassment culture. It’s not going to be the best product.

I don’t think people need a polished game.

They just need some expectations setting that the game is on the right track. In a reasonable amount of time.

Like having a bunch of server issues sucks, but I think everybody knows that will get fully resolved soon enough.

The Support issue is more problematic, because it’s not a straightforward fix.

Good to know you knew what to expect. I’ve seen a lot of people who are acting like they expected some sort of complete perfect product as if this wasn’t thrown together in the past year and released way early

There’s always open queue if you wanna.

Fair enough. I definitely seem to disagree with the issues people are having with support, Kiriko was all I needed to hop back into the role on a regular basis since I’ve played the rest of them for 6 years. Tanking really has stolen my attention though.

Basically, I feel like in this version of OW (where cc is a no no), what supports ultimately need is mobility… Lucio and Moira feel effective and more fun (imo) because they can escape pressure and flanks. Kiriko to some extent will have this utility too. How do you give Ana, Brig, Zen these kind of abilities without breaking lore or just being weird? Honestly, I dunno…

Things are already dying very fast with one tank. You want to get rid of characters that can heal and replace them with more damage?

No way.

Read the last bit. I wish tone could come across in a post

With the exodus of talent and what we have left in terms of “talent”, there’s no way it could have gone well. When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. When you support illegal sexual harassment in your workplace, you get criminals.

And we had criminals and monkeys trying to get the launch to go well.

Well yeah. Weirdly part of the “problem” is that 5v5 made the game a lot more fun for Tanks and DPS players. A large part of that was by removing the more tedious obligations, and removing some major frustration aspects.

Supports? They are

  1. Now more Targeted by the enemy team to be the first player to die.
  2. They have less defenses to work with.
  3. Teammates are less likely to peel for them.
  4. Teammates are going to spread out run around a lot more, which means Supports need to spend a lot of time running around just to get in position to heal. Often taking riskier positioning than they would like to.
  5. Heal-Tanking is somewhat of a compensation for the lack of barriers. People are constantly taking chip damage.
  6. Fending off Flankers is not only a lopsided fight, but also it forces you to ignore healbotting duties.
  7. And doing the “fun shooter game” stuff gets your teammates mad at you.
  8. And just in general your “time budget” to shoot or use utility stuff on the enemy team is more limited.

Overall, the way I see this getting resolved is generally

  1. Buff Supports in Selfish ways
  2. Find a mechanism to give Supports more TIME where they aren’t expected to healbot. (i.e. Some sort of regen or aura or something for teammates) (or maybe some form of TF2 style critheals)
  3. Probably less survival on Flankers. (And because Flankers are expected to deal with Snipers less survival on those too)

Junktat, Sojourn and Torbjorn are piss easy dps, but also incredibly strong.

Why can’t support get a piss easy and strong character?

They screwed up with how many heroes they added. There should’ve been more instead of the 3 we got. I’d say around 10 new heroes.

5 for support.

3 for tank.

2 for damage.

Would’ve fixed queue times by a lot.
