I’m just automatically Diamond at the start of this season. I’ve never hit Diamond before on PC (On console, I was Diamond, but I haven’t played on Console since 2018). The last two seasons I was Gold because I didn’t play Comp at all. Season 1, I played Comp a decent amount and climbed to High Plat. But now, I’m just Diamond right off the bat. Why?
“Starting with Season Four, a player’s Competitive Play rank will no longer be reduced at the beginning of a season. Furthermore, the effects of this reduction of rank from previous seasons will also be removed. Depending on how many games they played during the previous season, most players will see their skill tier and division increase. A player’s skill tier and division at the beginning of Season 4 will now closely match the matchmaker’s estimate of your current skill.”
It took 6 years for Blizzard to figure out this one, sheesh.
So they estimate me being higher than I’ve ever actually been? That’s strange.
You would get there if you played enough games. It’s just that it would require a ridiculous amount of games to get there.
So, you are a little bit higher than the rank you stopped playing at? How, do you not understand why?
Well I’ve never seen it happen before.
Well as someone posted earlier, they are changing it up with season 4.
And you should expect your rank to be higher in OW2 (assuming you played OW1) because it’s a f2p game now with a lot of new players.
