How about we rework invulnerabilities and nerf burst dmg?

1. Remove the support passive

  1. Nerf burst dmg abilities, i.e., Widow/hanzo one shots reworked…bastion sentry mode, echo stickies, sojourn railgun, etc

  2. Rework/remove invulnerabilities into dmg reduction. For example Bap lamp/kiri suzu gives 50% dmg reduction. Life weaver pull is like Zarya bubble with X amount of hp and can be shot at.

I think stuff like this would make the game move at a much better pace and feel more fps like. What do you think?

I actually like this idea. Though I do like how suzu can counter tire so I would miss that :thinking: But dva bomb doesn’t need any more freaking counters that’s for sure.

im not completely against this but really if you nerf the healing enough along side nerfs to dmg mit, like how it used to be in ow1 launch; you dont need to touch the bursty dps because they default to being weaker without all of the healing and dmg mit.

people forget just how weak widow was in 2016, sometime in late 2016 they even buffed her to what is today her strongest version and she was still barely used. when taimou pulled her out in a tournament it was a big wtf moment for people because she was seen as being a throw pick at any rank.

but you start to add in more healing (such as reworking mercy into a meta hero) and she becomes more and more popular because now its not only more difficult to kill her but she can bypass the healing and dmg mitigation abilities.

if we arnt removing dmg mit, then they’d need to be significantly weaker then what you propose because even a 50% dmg reduction is alot even if its only for a second or two.

1 & 2 are good
my concern for 3 though is invulns are some of the few ways to avoid some ults/abilites. It makes throwing a suzu when a dva bomb is going off not being a clutch play and other abilites.

Or like LW grip, your grip a target but they die during the pull with no way to move since pull freezes a player actions.

Suzu last for so little time i think its fine, and lamp should just have its buffs reverted, mainly the 25% health buff.

Edit: I just used dva bomb as a example, it can be replaced with any ability. It makes those types of saves/plays less.

Lamp for sure should work like that and be on lower cooldown. It has long duration so it would make sense to have dmg reduction on ability of this sort. Suzu probably last too short to only give dmg reduction… unless you increase duration which of course could happen

IMO suzu shouldnt even be damage reduction. It should just be a heal/cleanse ability. Adjust cooldowns and/or give her another new ability to compensate for the reduction in power.

I also still stand by the idea that I don’t think LW should exist at all. His kit is fundamentally annoying both to play with and against.

Idk I think most maps have enough cover. If you die to dva bomb that’s kinda on you.

All depends on the map, where the bomb lands, and if your playing a character who has movement or not.

Some maps or situations you can get behind cover.

But giving it damage reduction instead removes that aspect of the ability, like in sleep dart only slowed people instead.

It fundamentally changes how its used.

It could work on lamp but suzu would been to be changed to much were it would become a new ability at that point

you should just be positioned better. most of the ults in the game existed since launch you didnt need lamp or suzu back then

these abilities are just get out of jail free cards for lazy players with poor positioning and awareness

I used it as a example, it could be a stickies from echo, or a rein charging.

It makes thoes plays “less”

yes position better.

if you get charged by rein you should die because either the rein outplayed you or you missplayed.

either way you shouldnt be able to be saved when you get outplayed

All burst damage that there is?

D.Va bomb is burst damage, so it would be nerf under point number 2

I cant position my team mates better (ignoring LW)

Rein made a play my team mate misplayed, so i made a play to save them with suzu.

Should i not be allowed to impact the game that way?

you dont worry about your teammates, you kill the enemy team and prevent the deaths from ever happening.

when you give get out of jail free cards to heroes, particularly ones this powerful you only simplify the game and lower the skill cap.

No, I want to play support and support my team.

If i wanted to kill and ignore my team i would play DPS

then go play a different game because overwatch is a game about KILLING people not saving them.

eventually they will nerf all of these abilities or the game will die and you wont have anything to play anyway.

I dont know if you noticed this, but there is a entire role that is designed to help and support their team.

I know its a wild idea!
