-Once you are GM you can only duo queue.
-Once you are in Master you can still queue with friends but anything beyond 2 gets hard if you are not smart about it.
-Once your master friends stop playing because they are getting bored you are once again alone, because random people rarely ask in ranked to group up when you are in masters except if it really, really, really went well.
-Most of your rl friends are in platin if not even lower. To play anything that is not a total clown festival you need a smurf to play ranked with them.
Overwatch on high rank can get very lonely. Most of the friends I made are in Platin/Diamond.
If youâre of notably different skill level than your friends-
Whether they or you are higher
The responsible and imo mature thing to do would be to accept that difference.
Itâs important to understand that competitive match making is intended to provide close matches by pitting equal (as best as it can) skilled players against each other.
If you take advantage of that system because âI just REALLY wanna play competitive with my friends :<â, itâs amazingly selfish.
Accept that youâre different- and play quick play. Donât sour the experience of players who are going to competitive looking for a genuinely competitive experience.
quick play matchmaker is terrible when queuing with very different skill levels. Its so frustrating that my friends donât want me to play QP on my main account because than the other team is also likely to get some good people. QP becomes a stomp or get stomped experience. Competitive seems to balance smurfs out a bit better. Often I have another smurf on my level in the enemy team and if you play long enough with your friends it might be that they are now a higher SR than they should be, but you are a lower SR than you should be and it starts to be impossible to carry anyways.
i have never been masters or gm but i can see why players would want to smurf, seems lonely and so tri-hard up there that you just want to play casually so you make another account for being stress free and maybe just play with friends. i can understand that attitude, bullying lowbies cuz you like to bully tho is another story
Better take: you should not be playing ranked with them. There are a LOT of other non ranked game modes that you can play without actively hurting the ladder.
QP on a smurf is not a lot better. When its your smurf account your are pretty soon playing with other gm smurfs that are leveling up a new account. You would need a potato account, where the hidden potato index is naturally low.
If that was correct then your friends wouldnât care/be able to tell the difference between matches if you were on your main vs smurfs
We canât stop you doing it cos Blizzard makes money from it and their want for money trumps making my a good game buuuuuuut, why are you bothering with these half-donkey attempts to justify it
QP? Arcade? Any other form of activity? Smurfs plague the system and kill the quality for a long time now. Ranked is not the place for casual friend play especially when you are so much higher.
Most smurfs tend to tryhard at some point in lower ranks and thus end up throwing to get back to the lower rank again. So they basically ruin every match they are in.
I have a friend that is masters. My best buddy and me are around gold/plat level. He sometimes joins us on a gold ranked account. But you know what? He 100% Qs support or Tank but never picks e.g. Bap or Ana as he would just outfrag the enemy team on them. He often times goes mercy and never goes tryhard nor does he throw. Even if the enemy team has smurfs he stays chill. I bet you are the tar⌠who your friends want to boost them and will go dps while one of them pockets you the whole match
