Title says it all. I hate playing into rein because he either shield bots around corners which is boring. Or he rushed you down where there is nothing you can do if he has good support. You just have to run or die. And that isn’t fun.
He’s a plast to play but I wana bash my brains out whenever I hear people complain he needs buffed
Single greatest thing about 5v5 for me is no Rein/Zarya. Rest in hell.
You are not alone.
Not me ofc I love rein but a friend of mine hates Reinhardt and rush comps in General.
Can’t say I have many problems with rein personally.
Buff rein into the stratosphere
Because he gets objectively obliterated in the modern game with new Orisa, Ramattra, and Mauga. He’s role is brawling, and he gets owned while doing it.
Rein is effective at <10m. If you are this close to the giant German armored mech man you deserve to be punished.
Just keep your distance or get on high ground. More than half the roster have mobility tools to do so.
No one is fun to play against.
Deal with it.
Shield heros drove me to Sombra. But yeah i feel the same way. I don’t have any legitimate complaint against rein, just kind of boring to play against on those classic overwatch style maps. The old 1 way in, 1 way out meat grinder maps.
just play pharah and laugh. not that hard.
Tbh, AntiNade is a big part of why about 60% of Tank picks across all ELOs in OW1 were Rein/Zarya.
I wish Rein’s swing damage was:
Minimum damage + 20% of current target’s max HP
So let’s say minimum damage was 45.
On tracer it would be 45+30, making it 80
On a 200hp hero, it would be 45+40, making it 85
On a 225hp hero it would be 45+45, making it 90
On a 450hp tank, it would be 45+90 or 135
This would not calculate overhealth or armor
Nade had very little to do with it. The shape of Zarya’s bubble relative to Rein’s shield allowed her to charge her beam while no one took damage.
Antinade is a big part of why other Brawl Tank combos didn’t get picked.

I hate playing into rein because he either shield bots around corners which is boring. Or he rushed you down where there is nothing you can do if he has good support
Rein’s downside is that he’s only good if he has good support. I think that’s typically good game design, tanks being able to rush you down if they’re being supported, but consider the fact that other tanks can just rush you down alone.
Doom and Winston can pretty easily. I’ve only played three games with a Mauga on my team, but it seems like he can pretty easy. D.va has to keep her boosters nerfed because she could do it REALLY easily with a low cooldown on her boosters.
Seems like the only tanks that can’t are Sigma (no mobility), Orisa (dies really fast when not supported) and Reinhardt (no range outside of CDs.). Its not really consistent there, so IMO, the complaint of “he rushes me down when he’s supported” is a little unfair.

Shield heros drove me to Sombra.
Glad to hear that they motivated you to counter shields. Most people just complain and beg for nerfs.

Antinade is a big part of why other Brawl Tank combos didn’t get picked.
No, not at all, it was all about the bubble and shield. There weren’t really other brawl combos. Hog/Rein I suppose, but a second tank who could separate from the first didn’t create much susceptability to antinade. Heck, Hog very rarely used take a breather during combat because it couldn’t be used while moving.
The reason it is a bigger deal now is that all of your tanking is concentrated into a single point of focus, making anti hit 100% of your tanking force and 100% of your tanks need to be engaged. Anti wasn’t anywhere near as impactful when you could just duck out and let the other tank have at it while it was active.
don’t let them silence you because I don’t even find rein fun to play with most of the time
Rein is fine, you literally just go Bastion and melt his shield.
‘‘Such and such is unfun remove it!!’’ forum whining killed OW.
And the stunfest it was also.
Bubble allowed you to attack without being perma stunned by the whole team
So you don’t like playing against me huh? You think I like you? When you drop your turret to stop me mid charge? WELLLLLLL?!?!?!?! lol.
He’s an old school brawl tank. If you’re up close to him of course you’re going to be destroyed when his hammer go brrrrrrrr. Get out of it’s range, it’s not hard lol.
He’s an old school tank, he’s fun to play and fun to play against, even if I get diffed bad by a real good Rein. And more importantly to me-he’s an honest tank, unlike Orisa or Mauga. I enjoy the mental gymnastics.
Is he in a good spot right now? Absolutely not, but he’s still playable-barely, he needs the right comp to work. Does he need work, especially in the current meta that’s being dictated by 1 tank that’s making other tanks irrelevant? Definately yes.
BUT-sadly for us Rein players, it’s looking bleak as the devs have said they’re happy with his current state right now and they will not be making any changes to him. Which is why I’m officially giving up playing Rein. For now. But there’s no way in hell I’m playing Mauga. I prefer hero’s with a high skill ceiling like Lucio, Winton for example. Not a tank like Mauga…not going to go on about him as I’ve already had my rant about him.
Once they’ve tuned him I’ll go back to daddy Rein and see what it’s like. And once Mauga is not broken I’ll give him a shot-but no in his current state. I get zero enjoyment steamrolling enemy players with him, when it takes so little skill to do so. You know it’s bad when an enemy team offers a “no Mauga” pact just so we can enjoy a real game of OW.
So I’m going back to my early days and playing Lucio, and maybe Zarya and Winton (enemy team comp depending ofc).
