HOT TAKE: Masters and GM is EASIER than plat/gold!

Not everyone but a lot of us are stuck in plat/ gold due to us being meshed in with terrible teammates not our performance.

Can we be honest with ourselves and stop coping for the terrible comp system we have? Each of us KNOWS if we had a bad or good game once the match is over. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again comp rank should be based on your PERSONAL PERFORMANCE not solely wins and loses.

There are videos that show a plat player getting invited to GM scrim matches and doing just as well (if not better) than the players that are actually GM. (Nobody knows who the plat is and people have to guess who they think is the plat player amongst to GM players. They did not guess correctly)

On the contrary, I’ve seen videos where GM players play in gold scrims and get HARD STOPPED on first point. I’m talking straight up spawn camped. Don’t let these blizzard boys trick you. If you’re able to CONSISTENTLY drop huge numbers (58 - 4/ 42 - 7/ 50 - 2) like myself… then you most likely DONT belong in plat or gold. It’s just the competitive system and your terrible team.

To all the people saying “you’re not ranking up cause you’re not getting better” surprise and welcome to OW. A genji on your team going 8 - 8, playing into sym mei zarya DOES affect the outcome of the game. A healer on your team having 2k heals while the other teams healers have 40k heals together DOES affect the outcome of the game. A one trick doom punching aimlessly into the back line and dying immediately DOES have an affect on the outcome of the game, and no amount of positioning, good aim, and ult management will stop you from taking that huge loss SURPRISE!

Honorable mentions: lower ranks have 0 comms opposed to higher ranks that typically have great comms. Lower ranks have healers that think they’re dps (“iTs sUPporT nOt HeAleR”) while higher ranks have healers that will keep the team alive FIRST… and still get more kills than lower level healers.

Give us our own rank based on OUR performance. Me and many others should ATLEAST be high diamond but guess what… no amount of “playing better” will be enough to stop my teammates from being bad shocking take Ik!

It genuinely depends on the person. It’s subjective. I know for a fact I perform WAY better when there are more people who know what they are doing and I doubt it is uncommon. I actually prefer quickplay because the rank averages are higher and the games normally feel better as a result.

I am not trying to imply that I am a secret GM or any nonsense. But it’s easier to work around players who understand the game than people struggling to play the easiest characters in the game. Obviously.

This was false fifteen years ago with the launch of League of Legends, and it’s false today with Overwatch. You’re not God’s gift to gaming, stop using the useless scoreboard to judge your teammates with.

I got my rank because of how I play. Not how my teammates perform.

OP, someone once told me that you should stop blaming your teammates and look into your own gameplay or some such. I took that advice to heart, and literally never blame anybody else but myself for my losses. Ever since, trash teammates that cant into basic brain functions have completely disappeared from my games. All my teammates now definitely play with their tvs on, yes. So, stop coping and blame yourself more. You are the rank you are, period.

Also, a system accounting for personal performance in your rank would be literally too hard and literally too impossible to implement. Its not like they have game devs or something over at blizz.

The problem with the medal ranks is the consistency. Because most people play there and the MM only counts in ranks as a matching point, you will have matches that are all over the place.

We did not need the Champion rank, but we need a Iron rank and maybe even another one and start getting more granular. In a gold lobby, you can have players who play like bronze and players who play like diamond in one game. Its crazy.

You can’t judge players off performance because stats are almost completely useless in overwatch. 2 genjis one with high dmg and one with lower damage, the lower one could actually be a better player making smarter plays.

With that said, I do know for a fact the ranked system is a joke, cause I play across multiple accounts that all have different ranks and yeah masters gm is easier then plat on another account. It’s all about how the mmr judges you as a player. It decides where you should be and then gives you team mates to push you up or down based on where it believes you should be.

This is why I can play in diamond on one account and win 5 games in a row then play in diamond on another account and lose 5 games in a row. There’s an obvious push and pull from the matchmaking system.

Blizz fan boys just pretend like blizzard can do no wrong. Imagine thinking these devs that have tried to nerf heroes but accidentally buffed them, and put mauga into the game, are capable of making a functioning ranked system lol.

Smurfs stomping games and climbing with 80%+ winrates shows that this is nothing but cope.

First, MMR is indeed all over the place but it is not just that: The ppl above gold also know how to play their roles so you don’t have to cover for idiots and throwers which makes the things easier.

There’s a big difference between old accounts with heavy mmr and fresh accounts. My main account was hard stuck diamond. I made a new account and “stomped games with 80% wr all the way to gm” lol. It was ez. So if a diamond player can do exactly what those streamers are doing with unranked to gm, the ranked system is a joke.

In open queue it’s kinda true even if OP is obviously trying to rationalize their own mistakes.

OQ meta is 4 tanks + moira and dps characters are more often than not useless so basically the moment you have one or two (outside of specific maps and characters) it’s gg.

That being said the gamesense between plat and GM has become very similar, the difference now is aim, I’m not saying aim has never carried before but now that the game is more FPS than moba gamesense has taken a backseat and even in higher ranks a lot of players seem to struggle with basic concepts like ult combos and positionning, basically a lot of games devolve into glorified team deathmatch across all ranks unless everyone is in voice and coordinating which on EU barely ever happens.

This only works because the game is too slow to realize the actual rank of a person, which is what everyone is exploiting.

(As someone in plat and gold) I’ve heard Flats say this before (I know, streamer bad blah blah blah) but it’s genuinely a good point: if you don’t belong in your rank, then your team has four chances to get a bad player, while the enemy team has five. Therefore, you should rank up over time.

It really doesn’t make a difference other than making it take more games instead of being relatively quick. Nobody who deserves to be gm gets hardstuck in plat or diamond. Be serious.

If you don’t have skill to carry your low ranks, you will shatter in a glimpse of a difficulty in higher ranks. Higher ranks have the same problems, and nobody would tell “you have better teammates here”, it is just a pov from lower ranks, but the skill increases for all the higher you go. However, problems are the same “bad teammates” and you can’t actually carry these ranks, unless you stacked with smurfs. When I play in lower ranks, I see more mistakes from both sides, and my task is to punish enemy mistakes FASTER than they may punish my teammates. Whereas in higher ranks, you gotta focus on your own performance, because you are equal here. That’s all the difference. Your vision is like client’s one who has an easy time being carried and never actually played in higher ranks long enough. It is a fake perception, the first glance probably. All ranks have similar issues, the only question is how actually GOOD YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE in each of these ranks.

They do now. You’d be right in OW1 but OW2 matchmaking is significantly worse, rank distribution is all over the place, it’s basically qp with medals, it’s not even a real ranked system anymore and there’s proof of that. Blizzard was boosting people in season 3 and 4 to higher ranks to retain fast queues. There’s posts about it with screen shots on these forums, YouTube vids.

When you boost that many players, you literally destroy the entire ranked system. Mmr in ow is sticky. Go watch replays of players in your gm games and you’ll find gold players. Gm is easy because I spot the boosted plats and bully them.

No 0 of you are in Plat/Gold due to teammates. I have leveled multiple accounts specifically to learn new heroes with and I can absolutely say that no one is hard stuck in Gold/Plat due to teammates. Your rank is based on YOUR performance. How many times do people have to go unranked to GM winning 90% of their games in Plat before you realize you are the rank you belong?

Note that 90% is not 100% so yes 10-15% of games are unwinnable and 10-15% are unlosable and 70% you can make a difference in the result. I guarantee if you played a game and sent the replay in we could multiple major issues with your gameplay. I know based on your tone you would probably try to find one of those 10% but sadly even in those you cant hide your own issues.

Biggest cope thread I’ve seen in a while.
Skill issue, get better.

No they don’t. If somebody can’t climb on a plat or diamond account they aren’t gm or are beyond washed.

Season 3 boost was fixed a year ago and is not a thing anymore. They even reset the ranks since then.

You’re just coping.
