This is not punishing, this is intentional. People are easily overwhelmed with ~40 heroes to choose from. That is why the game limits your playable heroes to a few easy ones for the beginning and you can unlock the „harder“ ones after a while. This makes absolute sense, because new players don’t know what heroes are easy/hard.
I don’t get the chat one to be honest, but anyway.
What really makes him „not enjoy the game“ is playing with you! This is not a personal attack, but your rank is probably higher than bronze 5. this is where all beginners start, and they can have a good time because they play against other new players.
But when he plays with you he instantly gets in a lobby with gold, plat, diamond or smth players, that are way better than him. THIS is what’s frustrating.
So if you want to play with him, start a new account with him and start smurfing. Or let him play the game alone.
I thought the fact that it makes you do you beginner games in Open queue as kinda weird as well. 10 games to chat is fine. The grind to unlock the full roster seems kind of unnecessary though.
Well we haven’t grouped up yet but im pretty sure since I have never played any comp the matching would be about equal if she and I were grouped.
Fair point on unlocking the new heroes , she saw me playing Kiriko and wants to play her too but she has to WIN 35 games as a support I find this ultra punishing and extremely difficult since the matching in this game has totally not worked since launch of ow2. You either stomp or get stompped. It’s so cringe.
Yeah, that makes sense. I also don’t like that you need to unlock the new heroes with an insane amount of wins. (Like kiriko) It takes ages.
But remember, kiriko is quite the hard character, so while she might like the design she won’t do good at the beginning.
So what is better? Her having some positive vibes, winning games, having some impact, or playing a high skill character where she gets overwhelmed and underperforms? Potentially getting flamed by her teammates?
It completely depends on the person! If she does not care about „winning“ and more about playing the chars she like, then i see your point.
At the end you can tell best
About your profile, I can’t see it, maybe it’s private? Dunno. But you created your account in 2022. so you have probably a bit of experience in the game.
Look at your enemies ranked when you play QP, I assume they are around gold? That’s still very high for her to play against.
All of my friends lost interest after an hour or two as well. I think they just need to bring back simplicity instead of overwhelming newer players. The only people still playing this game I speak with are long time fans or returners who leave days after a big update.
I think she would be really good at Kirko, I’ve seen her play well in other games that has a similar kit to Kirko, she is not a noob to shooters so idk. It just seems really lame that you have to win 35 games to unlock her.
yea but so is tracer yet she is playable. So not sure the logic is correct locking it down because they are a challenge.
The tracer argument is hard to grasp for me. The only shooter that requires hard tracking like tracer does is apex legends.
So if you are not coming from apex you will have a hard time with tracer, especially as a beginner.
She is „playable“, absolutely. But not easy.
Just like me with league of legends. Only thing is I was lucky I decided to start off learning the Arcane characters since that was the reason I even started playing. Same with Overwatch after seeing cinematics. Started with Genji, Hanzo and Reaper.
Chat restriction for new account is reasonable to prevent abuse of the chat and limited hero pool should be least of your concern.
I would dare to say that new players have the game treating them nice, but once you move past the newbie status onto casual player, then will the game start to punish you for being no longer new to the game but nowhere near experienced and skilled enough to be any competition for majority of player-base.
My experience after about two months of playing Overwatch 2 is having long loosing streaks lasting up to 11 games in row, and overall 78% games played ending in team defeat no matter what role I was playing.
Lot of players lacks the courtesy of sportsmanship and are mocking me when they see me struggle to keep up, deliberately seek me out on the battlefield every time my team get scattered.
Also people can simply click on “avoid as teammate” if they feel like inexperienced player is dragging them down. They don’t have to mock or insult me.
Matchmaking system make me feel like I’m the worst OW2 player on the earth and it’s impossible to find other players of the same skill range, and if the game does find other players at least remotely close to my skill, we are all placed in same team against significantly more skilled opponents.
Sometimes I ask myself why do I keep playing the game.
Battle pass feels like wasted money on getting skins and emotes for heroes I don’t know how to play effectively, and the new invasion story mission are getting rather negative reviews for being too short, thus I hesitate to spend more on this game.
this is what blizzard wants you to believe. if they were honest you wouldn’t be able to skip all that by paying. At least in paladins you get gold by playing and unlock heroes in the order you want.
this is just a money grabbing scheme, nothing less.
there is 0 positive to this system, it’s not fun, it’s not propaedeutic, it’s not engaging.
Umm what exactly does this mean? are there hidden exploits or something in chat that someone could abuse ? I’m not sure I follow the logic unless you mean by using foul language or just being toxic. I see that even with veteran players but that seems silly if they just turn it off for newbies they should at least let them communicate. My friend and I came from Paladins.
I have 6 hours played and just got matched into some masters dps who had almost 3,000 hours… in unranked. How is this fair? how am I supposed to learn and improve in the game if I cant even leave the spawn most of the game? Seriously thinking I should just give up on trying. Blizzard clearly doesn’t want new players to play the game
Based on your post I assume you are not a „new“ player who only has 6 hours of playtime. New players don’t know about the forum or what a master player even is, and why they are oppressive.
You don’t start to check profiles looking for „smurfs“ etc… in your first 6 hours.
Also the matchmaker is really fast catching up with your actual rank at the beginning. When I make a new account I will be (un)ranked with GM people in the first 2 hours. New players won’t be matched with masters in their first hours of playtime, because they can’t perform well enough to get even close to this MMR.
Based on this I would assume your real rank is >=Diamond. So what are you complaining about?
