I swear this lazy talentless scumbag company better not charge us to play PVE or add another battlepass exclusively for PVE even after removing such things because that’s something they would most likely do.
The least you can do is offer this gutted content all year long so I never have to play PVP ever again.
I agree, they shouldn’t have called it a sequel. I predict they will rebrand to just “Overwatch” some day, maybe years from now to save the embarrassment.
i tried to warn you. i’ve known blizzard and the western industry for years, the writing was on the wall. i remember saying ow2 was just gonna be a patch + dlc and it wasn’t even that.
it was a meager, buggy relaunch, with no pve… and it was obvious it had been scrapped already by how little they’ve shown.

Overwatch team, while being wonky with balance, has had a good track record with making the game itself. There wasn’t any big reason to be concerned about the PvE a year ago because it takes a long time to make. The PvP was obvious which direction it was headed, but that didn’t automatically condemn other aspects of the game.
Regardless, Zelda is here and that’s an S tier game, so I’m happy
And now Overwatch 2 is officially a reboot for the sole purpose of putting greedier monetization in the game, instead of that just being a happy coincidence for them.
Let it die just like HoTS, it’s time to focus on Diablo 4.
Honestly the PVE they promised from the get-go sounded way too ambitious, and too good to be true. The problem isn’t that they canceled PVE, it’s that they didn’t cancel it like 3 years ago.
This really sounds like their funding was just cut. Like Blizz was told they needed to scrap anything that isn’t currently making money and to just implement whatever can be salvaged in the next few months.
Which given that Bobby K is at the helm, that all sounds spot on.
This is a massive let down. I genuinely hope MS gets this buyout done so Blizzard can be saved from the money hawks. They can turn this back on and put some coin into it.
Done with OW2. Couldn’t be more disappointed with Blizzard right now.

This is very likely what happened.
OW2 was from the beginning a share price increasing marketing ploy, a way to pretend they are releasing new games, so that Microsoft would buy their crappy company. The dev team likely had the PvE development ongoing and was cut some time ago.
Well, the merger was blocked and likely never happening, so now there is no reason to even care about OW2.
They are going to focus on Diablo 4 as their last ditch effort to save face and get more money before the corporate lets the company go bankrupt and move to ruin other companies.
I think they failed to make it. I’d spend 80 or whatever bucks on a big PVE campaign. Many people would.
The devs made several demos with the engine for the PvE ready. There is no reason to believe they werent capable of developing a PvE campaign.
This is 100% a corporate decision, just like bobby kotick forced OW into OW2.
So why not make money off it then?
Because one thing is being able to do it, and another thing is being allowed to finish it.
Its likely the PvE was slated to be ready for this year’s end, and corporate just ended the ongoing development midway. No reason to waste resources on a sinking ship game now that the merger has been blocked.

I am extremely disappointed I was holding onto the game for PVE as was promised so long ago. I am not good at pvp qp or comp got tired of the toxic voice chat so I leave myself out of the channels so when pve was going to be introduced I was thrilled to do unique talents for the heroes and so forth now this was gutted from me. I enjoyed the voice actors/actresses the interaction between the different heroes before the match started And these story missions? Not touching it. You devs are trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel and even then being picky do -not- promise something if you can not deliver. I am done this was the last little game from Blizzard. executes uninstall

This is good to them. The whole game was recycled assets from a failed MMO called Titan. So I guess it’s par for the course. No wonder Jeff left.
