I’ve played against maybe 5 hogs in 2 days - and I played a lot of games in those 2 days because I was chair-bound with a badly sprained ankle. And in those 5 games only 2 of them had the hog stay more than the first 2 fights and 1 game had the hog stay to the end. I was playing hog against them, but even still they switched to counter.
It’s insane how few people are picking hog because he is so bad now with the armour changes and buffed tanks, which he missed out on (no, the pigpen change was not the same as armour changes + shield HP for example).
Sure, people don’t like him, but with Ana and Zen in the game he was already the easiest tank to counter and required a lot of work to do well on beyond just hiding to wait out nade or discord. Now you are doing so much more work than the other tank just to stay alive with constant nades, sleeps, discords and hacks.
Well don’t know about comp, but I see him quite often in OQ (EU), as a solo tank in maybe every 4th game, as tank duo even more ofter ( with dva, zarya or winton especially)
Before the armour changes I was putting up with Ana (with short breaks from the game to collect myself after I got sick of her) but I’m doing the counterswap thing now too. If the other tank is hog and switches to counter, then I will switch. If the other tank comes out at the start on a hog counter (which, let’s face it, is everything except ball and doom now as even monkey is in, kills a squishy, and is gone by the time hog removes his armour), then I’ll also switch.
I used to love playing hog, except for the Ana thing which can make it pretty tedious with her in every game hog is in, but now it is just too much of a chore.
I’ve played more zarya in the last couple of months than hog and I find zarya really boring to play.
I see Roadhog every now and then especially from tanks who seem to go “eh **** it this game is garbage”, then they just go Hog, and get solo kills left & right while never dying until specific hard counters are used against them.
But not against any tanks other than doom. He can annoy ball, but not stop him. Queen trashes on him after all her buffs and his nerfs. He is useless against armour, and Mauga usually wipes the floor with him unless they have no clue. Even Orisa, the worst tank, can stomp all over Hog.
It’s a joke these people that still say he is unkillable. He’s the easiest tank to counter and kill now, so what does that make the rest of the tanks?
