I think these are decent changes, though I’d argue reducing scrap gun dmg is a bit heavy handed. I personally want to see an entirely new mechanic for hook.
My idea was, instead of a simple pull, turn it into a grapple after hook is done. The target is incapacitated for a short time (like being physically restrained). After that, hog either releases his target or (and this seems more fun) throws his target a certain distance. The grapple can be interrupted, and by design it shouldn’t be an instakill (could still one shot if thrown correctly though). Also letting hog be able to move while grappling would be even better. He’d basically be like an old school goon kidnapping someone. Imo much more fun and balanced mechanic.
I am impressed by the laziness and lack of skill you have to have to not be able to dodge or cover from an hook that is slower than the Blizzard patches and not be able to shoot a huge pigman that is slow and does not have any type of shields or protection does not damage from a distance and that shoots you with a shotgun that has such a dispersion that at a couple of meters it is useless and that it only has 5 charges and a huge reload time
I have news for you there is only 1 tank that has to do all the work and most tanks have a lot of damage because otherwise it would just be a useless bag of HP like in ow1 so you better get used to it
The cast time of hook is .16 of a second, and travels 40 meters per second.
At most ranges, this gives you less than half a second to see, respond, and obtain cover, before being yoinked over to hog.
Not counting the extreme likeliness of hook to actually not break on terrain, clip through the walls on your end, and pull you from behind the cover.
Add in any degree of latency, its not about your skill at “dodging” the hook, so much as its on hog to straight up miss the hook.
No protection? The guy is protected by 700 hp, and an ability that heals back 350 health while reducing incoming damage by half.
Heaven forbid he be receiving any healing from his team in the process. Ana and kiriko can heal the guy for literally 2 seconds (Who just so happen to be the most picked supports right now) during his self heal and he can go from <10 hp back to full health in those 2 seconds.
Theres multiple reasons hog is literally one of the strongest, most utilized tanks on ladder (Especially at high ranks)

the hook makes a noise that is heard in almost the entire map, you don’t even have to see it to react to it, not to mention that in order to lose sight of such a giant you have to be very blind and more than the new maps are open corridors with balconies, and Most of the heroes have movement abilities like to always stay away from roadhog but of course it’s easier to cry than to learn to position yourself.
750 hp does not even have armor and with a huge hitbox with the very high damage that there is, you can almost instakill a roadhog and more than with heroes like widow you do 300 base damage with only 1 HS, and also Ana is a hero who destroy roadhog literally you have anti healing, sleep and many more things also any shield already nullifies his hook and leaves him as a huge and useless bag of HP that gives free ultimate the fact that a kiriko ability is breaking the whole balance because it counters 99% of things doesn’t mean roadhog is broken.
and you talk to me about high elo as if those guys couldn’t erase a roadhog from existence with the amount of damage and mobility that the dps have now

Staying away from hog isn’t the problem on most maps. Not sure if you’re away of this, overwatch has objectives to contest. Sooner or later you have to play the game contest the points where hog is.
Neither matters when you have a self heal that restores half your health in a matter of seconds and reduces damage taken by half.

If you feel any shield hero genuinely counters hog I strongly question what tier you play at.

They can’t- Because roadhog doesn’t play by himself and at high elo where he has high elo supports actually supporting him.
You can spin stories about all these supposed counters all you’d like chief- the reality is hog is a very powerful tank with a firm hold in this games meta, especially at high levels of play where the idea of “you just lack skill” doesn’t hold water. Pretending otherwise is nonsense.

Why don’t you just say that you don’t know how to play? they literally spend all their time crying that if they have a shield they cry because they don’t know how to flank, that if they stun and now they cry for a tank that doesn’t even have a shield and their only way to do something is with a hook lol, when it is another hero who is destroying the entire balance Aka kiriko
Hog is almost where he needs to be. I take issue that it is hard to punish him when he is out place (compared to others) for how much survive-ability he has i think the damage could be dialed back just a small tick. Reduce that hook range by maybe 2 - 3 meters
As it is now it feels like a bad hog can be ignored and a great hog is an issue but you can make adjustments to deal with him. Maybe if his take a breather didn’t reduce damage? I am not sure.
